This has been going on a long time. There's even songs about this same feeling, or lack of. It's hard to put any emotional effort into it because we're running out of emotion to give. The last time I cried for a lot of people dying was in 2011, when the news showed the events of 9/11 from a new perspective.
Try having a kid and not feeling horrified every time,
