Merry Christmas! Here's what's been happening and where it's going.

So here's what's been happening for... well, years now. First of all, I was a grad student, trying to get a Master's Degree. I had some big up s and some decently bad downs. In addition, I was unemployed for seven months AND I live with my parents. Not exactly a good combination for free time, not having money and being hounded because of it. Then I finally managed to get a job... as a

Thinking of the past in the future

So good news, I finally finished a grueling class and managed to get an A in it, so I've got about a week or two of mostly free time (still need to find a job). So expect updates coming.

Trying to get back in the groove (Fan request)

So as you can tell I haven't written anything in a while. Life has been difficult lately, and every time I try to write I get distracted or lose interest. I don't want to let you guys down though, but I can't seem to get the motivation, at least for the stories I already have. I have so many new ideas but I don't want to work on them until I get some other things finished or at least progress

    Patreon Voting Deadline

Just so you guys know my first Patreon fanfic poll will be ending tomorrow. This is deciding which fic I will focus most of my effort on and (hopefully) finish the next chapter by the end of the month. Right now it's 2 to 2 between "Epicness" and "(Un)Dead" (so I may have to just toss a coin. Remember, $1 patrons get to vote, and $3 patrons get to look at and leave comments on the fic google doc

    Getting Down to Patreon

Some 6 month internship ended, and though I will be looking for a new job I will also be using to this free time to both get back to really working on my fan fictions and start using Patreon in earnest. As I mentioned before, I'm going to have one tier on my Patreon where Paetrons can have a look, and leave comments, on certain fanfic chapters I'm working on. So here's how this is gonna work.

Fan Help Requested: This is the Problem with Seasons coming out while you write · 1:08am Feb 13th, 2018

So I'm almost done with the next Epicness chapter, and should be done by tomorrow or maybe tonight (I am so gonna regret saying that), but there's one thing I wanted to address that didn't exist when I started the story. Or rather, some pony.

Moondancer.

This is a problem because aside from the swerve caused by Gilgamesh and other FF beings, I like keeping things in line with the cannon. And that means that Twilight has been in Canterlot for days and has not tried to reconnect with her old friends. This is very important because she well be meeting an OC who is also an old friend next chapter. I see three possible solutions:

1. Address this and have Twilight attempt to reconnect with Moondancer and her other friends, like in the show.

2. Moondancer was killed in the Assault on Canterlot. Tragic, provides some character development, and is otherwise quick and clean.

3. Moondancer doesn't exist. Quick and clean, but also kind of a copout.

So, what would you guys prefer to see and, if you can spare the time, give me some ideas if you chose one of the first two.

Have Twilight reconnect with Moondancer, maybe take her as an aide or apprentice or something.

2 would be the easier way to address that besides just pretending she doesn't exist
have twilight attend her funeral or something like that. would also work to make her meet with the other older friends since they would attend too

It makes sense, Moondancer is on par, research wise with Twilight. No reason to not make use of her in the war.

First one.

I know the feeling. Had Starswirl show up in my last chapter as a little mini twist... and then season finale...

Actually, the first and the second could be used together with some adjusting.
For example, Twilight could have completely forgotten about her friends from Canterlot like in the show and they haven't seen each other because they volunteered to help in any way they could since they aren't fighters. Also, Moondancer doesn't need to be dead, she could be hospitalized for been injured and is currently in a coma, after the worst of the aftermath of the attack Lyra (or another of the "Canterlot 6") bumps into Twilight and they catch up, then she is informed about what happened to Moondancer and after hearing how to hurt she was when Twilight didn't show up for their get-together Twilight feels responsible for Moondancer change in attitude, which was partially the reason she got hurt in the first place. Side note, Twilight doesn't know the true extent of the impact of her decision on Moondancer after she wakes up, but that doesn't change the fact that Twilight feels responsible for Moondancer's change.
There you have it, Twilight gets development and you can explain Moondancer's existence and history with their group of friends from Canterlot as well as why they didn't meet up sooner.

By the way,

I'm so happy to hear that a new chapter is coming out soon, no need to rush though since I know that sometimes getting the finishing details can be hard and not putting those details at all can leave you unsatisfied with the result.

I would choose option one.

Having Moondancer be actively doing things that kept her from seeing Twilight is an option.

I would suggest a bit of both option 1 and 2.

Like, Celestia had Moondancer looking into these FF characters that pop up occasionally to study their magic and have Twilight randomly bump into her while reporting her findings.

THIS. This is a good idea to explain it all.

Still, I prefer my version since it offers more development for Twilight.

I would do a mixture of 1 and 2, so a fourth option I guess.
Twilight tries to reconnect with old friends but in the process of finding them, realizes Moondancer (and maybe others) are injured rather than killed. Despite being alive and being saved the Changelings (and by extension Twilight and Gilgamesh) Moondancer resents her to nth degree because not only did she make friends in Ponyville, but she made new friends with the Avatar of Combat, essentially forgetting all about them

Not far from what I suggested.

I like the first option the most, to be honest.

The first option
