Or rather, the new system is go. The old system is in a doggie bag. Since it doesn't go.
Drop-swapped the 1TB drive from my failing PS4 into my brand new one, mounting bay and all (since the part architecture is identical). Had one false start with initialization but that turned out to be due to a corrupt/incomplete download of the system update software. Once I redownloaded it, the install and boot went smooth as glass. After spending several minutes setting up and configuring all the stuff you have to do every time you go through this--you know what I mean--I started downloading basic essential apps (Netflix, Crunchyroll, Vudu, etc) and the first batch of games (DB Xenoverse, Xenoverse 2, FighterZ). What I'll do is, at night before I go to bed every night, I'll start another round of games downloading, a few at a time. I figure it'll take a week or so, ten days tops, to get the whole thing set up right.
To everyone who has (or will soon) donated to my GoFundMe, thank you. While it was nice, due to my present circumstances, to be in a position where I could just go out and buy a new PS4 outright, the bottom line is that's $300 I'm gonna need next month/in April/whenever the hell I finally get to go home, and having it back in my bank account before then is a really really good idea.
So anyway! Xenoverse vlogs will resume...when they do; I do still have my quest for that one skill to contend with.
Since I'm having such a good time with these LPs and I'm kind of hoping to get noticed beyond FiMF here with this stuff, I'm going to keep going past Xenoverse--I'll be doing XV2 of course, and then sometime I intend to go back and do my long-promised LP of Dark Cloud 2. After that...who knows? I have a shit-ton of games and plenty of attention whore mojo.
Yay! Though I am an Xbox guy, I still appreciate PS4. You get Uncharted and we don't.
Great to hear everything turned out okay. Hope all your games are redone loaded no problem. Question, when transferring your data to a new PS4 does it also transfer all your trophies and stuff?

(I'm just kidding. I only know that XBox has very few if any exclusive games I'm really interested in whereas PlayStation gets all the RPGs and stuff I'm interested in and I've been a Sony whore since 1995 with few real complaints.)
Three questions regarding the LPs.
First, you said you have to redownload the game. Will that cause any issues with current saves? (The most advanced consoles of each type I have experience with is PS2, Wii, Dreamcast, and 3DS.)
Second, when you go on to Xenoverse 2, will you be recreating Kinoa, or making a new character?
Third, when you do the Dark Cloud 2 LP, to what level of completion will you be working towards? (For example, will you be completing the photo collection?)

Trophies are linked to your PSN account, so all you have to do is sign in with your PSN account and there they are. Data transfer to a new PS4 is...basically transferring media files and saved game data and stuff, which can be done a number of ways--the most convenient of which is from the cloud if you're a PS+ member, which is what I do.

My save data was in the cloud and I also have it backed up to a USB drive just in case. There shouldn't be any issue picking right up where I left off. PS3 and PS4 both save data to the cloud for PS+ members by default. I'll probably be making a new character in XV2 since your main character from XV1 has a...different role there, from what I'm told. As for DC2...it depends, really. 100% completion on everything in DC2 is tedious, but completing the photo collection is actually not TERRIBLY difficult apart from a couple of the monster scoops.

Ah, that's right. If you link your XV 1 save file to your XV 2 save file, your character from XV 1 shows up for certain plot events.
In that regard, what sort of character would you make to fight alongside Kinoa? (And to inherit skills or equipment from, since you can do that too)

I'm actually on the fence about what my main for XV2 is going to be. The terrible, terrible dork in me wants to do Chrono, but I googled on a whim and everyone and their brother is doing Chrono. Maybe a Namekian Magus? Or I might go another route--one of my character creation jot-downs is Majin Plagg.

Eh, I'm gonna make Midnight Sparkle as a Frieza race character for one of my alts when I beat Xenoverse. I'm not too terribly interested in "connecting" my mains.
