Hey everyone! Something is happening that nobody, including myself, could have expected.
Short & skinny of the message is that I'm back and I'm actively looking to rewrite at least some of the earlier chapters that desperately need some love. It is also possible, very possible, that once I have read & rewritten the earlier, more spotty chapters, that after reading later chapters also, I will return to writing new chapters.
This isn't a 100% promise that I will, but I have been receiving a lot of support and encouragement lately to return to the craft and continue from where I left off. In response, I said that I'd have to read the story myself first since it has been way, way too long and I'd need to get comfortable with the details once more.
Well, I've been doing that, and like I say, reading the old original chapters made me go "what the hell is this?!". I know I can do better. I will, and am doing better.
I've got chapter four being edited, and there is some very minor changes to chapters one to three possibly coming (though we're speaking VERY minor).
I don't know how long it'll be before I can release these, but I am absolutely certain that it is what I must do!

Like I say, my biggest challenge is that I've got to read through the story to remember character quirks and such, but it will happen. I'll make it happen.

Got in and then about a year ago out of a relationship. Had my ex trying to hang on to my coat tails for a year before finally telling her to get real or get lost, and then kicking her to the curb entirely.
Got myself a boat (well, an inflatable kayak, but its still a boat! lol) and yeah, got my life in a nice, comfortable way. Its been a long time in the making, but I'm finally happy with who and where I am. Took me long enough! lol

I don't plan to rewrite the whole story, but somewhere up to chapter 8 or so. Change a tiny bit of the detail of chapter 8, but only where even I think I went well over the top. They'll still all die, but I'll just take out the insinuation..
After that's done, I'll see if there's anything from 9 onwards that needs any grammar or continuity changes, but it won't be any extra details as such.
I've got through 4 out of 30 pages of chapter four so far (I got distracted and didn't do any writing yesterday like I planned) and I've changed quite a fair amount. Some details are being stripped out entirely while others are being rearranged and new ones written in. I'm expanding the dialogue a little so it doesn't feel so quick and empty. Slow progress is still progress though!
After all of that is done, I'll be reading my story on right up to where I left it previously and I plan to continue should inspiration let me do so.
I think I'm happy with how the story goes and reads come chapter 9 onwards, but I'm going off memory on that one. I know that the quality of the writing gradually got better and chapter 11 was always the point in which I said to people that you see a good representation of what quality can be expected for the story.
Time will tell, but that's my plan.
