Moth Plays Dragonball Xenoverse, Episode 8: Kinoa's Determination! Break The Limit!! · 7:02pm Feb 9th, 2018

EDIT: I. Fucked. Up.

Somehow or another, the video I ended up using for the "Legendary Super Saiyan" mission? Is the wrong one. I apparently accidentally deleted the one where I got the Ultimate Finish, then used one of the ones where I failed the mission in the upload.

And since I habitually clear out all my files on the PS4 to avoid exactly this kind of screw-up after an upload...the GOOD one is gone.

Luckily, I'm STILL replaying that stupid mission for the SSJ skill drop, so I'll have to put a good cut of it in the next video. Or upload it standalone. -_-

Welcome back!

Last episode, Kinoa got involved in the most epic brawl in history and witnessed the awakening of the Legendary Super Saiyajin on Planet Namek. What's next for our sexy Saiyajin time cop?

Well...lots of sidequests, the completion of my training with Piccolo, and repeatedly trying to get one specific rare skill to drop before I move on with the story.

Episode 8: Kinoa's Determination! Break The Limit!!

This time around, we're taking on some new Parallel Quests, rounding up some old ones I missed the first time around, and finishing up my training with Piccolo.

For Piccolo, I had two training sessions left, which are spaced apart from each other in the video: a training battle against three Piccolos, and the "final lesson", which completes the training and earns Piccolo's ultimate skill, Ma Kankou Sappou. Earning Ma Kankou Sappou is actually the last thing I did prior to uploading this video, which is why you don't see it in use at all.

As for Parallel Quests...

First up are two earlier quests I missed involving the Saiyajin. Raditz and Nappa each have a Parallel Quest that puts you back in the Saiyajin Saga, on the enemy side. (You'll be seeing a lot of that today, just...just roll with it...)

Next up is the "Tri-Race Co-op", in which you fight an enemy team of Kuririn, Piccolo, and Vegeta. I actually ran this one twice, because the first time around, I "fail-passed": I cleared the primary objective and got a D-rank Clear, but I took too long, Frieza showed up, and while I was fighting Frieza, all the enemies recovered and finished off my team. The second time around, I managed to finish off the enemy team before Frieza even showed up.

The next mission is the most important--and most hellishly frustrating--Parallel Quest in this part of the game. "The Legendary Super Saiyan" pits you against the Z-fighters on Namek, protecting Frieza from Goku. The win conditions are merely to beat Kuririn and Goku, but you also have to fight Piccolo, Gohan, and Vegeta.

If you do this quest right, if everything that can happen here does happen, and if you're very lucky, when this quest is finished, you will be able to become a Super Saiyajin.

The first time I went through this quest, purely by chance (and because I didn't know the important thing about this quest yet) I finished Goku off first, then took down Kuririn. Of course, if you do it in that order, Goku never transforms...and you can't obtain the Super Saiyajin skill from this battle if he never transforms. But here's the rub:

There is no guarantee Goku will go SSJ in this battle. He either will, or he won't. If he doesn't, you have zero chance of obtaining the Super Saiyajin skill. If he does, the remainder of the fight is HARD because you have to keep Frieza alive and Goku goes after his ass, so you have to keep him tied up so he can't Kamehameha too terribly often (he spams the HELL out of it), and his stamina is RIDICULOUS in SSJ form. And even when you do manage to beat him? There's no guarantee the SSJ skill will drop. If you've EVER farmed rare drops in an RPG, you know EXACTLY the kind of hell this is--this is essentially trying to farm rare drops from a very hard boss fight. (The video of this fight I recorded and posted, I didn't get the SSJ skill drop--but I did get an Ultimate Finish, which I've learned will be important later.)

For the moment, I'm going to be repeating this quest until I get the Super Saiyajin skill, and also working with a new mentor to pick up other skills. I might go with Kuririn next, I think? I'd prefer having Kienzan as my secondary Ultimate over Weekend. Don't get me wrong, Weekend is awesome, I just think Kienzan is cooler. (Yeah yeah, I know, I should go for Milky Cannon, but I had more than my fill of that during that one STUPID escort mission.)

What's going to happen next? Find out next time, on Moth Plays Dragonball Xenoverse!

See ya next fight!

I'd prefer having Kienzan as my secondary Ultimate over Weekend.

You don't get it. You get the move he used to kill three Saibamen at once as his Ult. You get Chain Destructo Disk Barrage from someone else. You DO get the regular Kienzan Super Attack though.

Oh, Kienzan is a regular Super and not an Ultimate? Eh, I'll take it. I'd honestly rather have Kienzan than Masenko, Masenko has....range issues.

There is a Kienzan Ultimate, you just don't get it from Krillin. It's a decent Ult, unblockable, but it's pretty much a worse Special Beam Cannon, it's KINDA homing, but the SBC is faster and hits harder.

Eh, I'd rather have Kienzan as a Super than an Ultimate, honestly. I'm probably keeping Weekend as one of my Ultimates along with SBC just because it's fun to watch Kinoa do it. XD

It's a fun animation.

Oh.... You're gonna LOVE Super Saiyan Bargain Sale.

4793210 I swear, so many of those later PQs have ridiculous requirements to meet to even hope for the Ulitimate Finish conditions to appear. At least with Xenoverse 2 the conditions were guranteed to happen if you met them and the A.I. was less spam happy with stuff like Kamehameha and Final Flash.

Little tip: SSJ can be bought from the Skills Store a little later on in the game, same with SSJ2 (Around the Cell Games/Buu and Battle of Gods respectively, I think).

In the mean time keep up with the push-ups, sit-ups and drinking that juice!

I'm aware of that--in fact, if you'll take a look at my blog "Moonlight Moth #2", you'll note that I did, in fact, comment on that THERE. It's a matter of principle.
