Checking In - February 2018 · 5:58pm Feb 2nd, 2018
Hello everyone! It’s time for the monthly check-in. The past month has been educational to say the least. As a result, I’m making a few changes to the way I approach these updates and what I’m going to include in them. More after the break.

Thoughts and Rethinking Goals:
I learned a valuable lesson about myself this month when I tried to achieve the first January goal. It turns out I have a very limited capacity to force myself to write. I did my absolute best to get the next chapter of Impossible Life written and while I made a tiny bit of progress, it was agonizingly unproductive. I wasted two evenings staring at a document trying to write but the words weren’t coming to me. It went far better once I switched to a different story. Turns out I really have to pursue the ideas in my head as they come to me.
I’ll take it as a valuable indicator that I shouldn’t start any other major stories and also that commissions are not a thing I will ever do. I admire people who can quickly create a quality short story based on prompts and requests. That’s just not in the cards for me since it appears my mind simply can’t create on demand. It does make writing a challenge some days but as long as I pursue inspiration, I should be fine.
So this makes those specific writing goals a recipe for frustration instead of focus. I’m going to retire the goals section of these updates. My only goal is to write stories for all of you to enjoy but to have fun while doing it. I’m not abandoning my other incomplete stuff, but I can’t force myself to write when I have no ideas!
There’s really not much more I have to add this month so I’ll hand this over to you. If you have any questions about me or my stories, fire away. I’ll do my best to answer your questions although I won’t give away any spoilers.
Thank you all for reading and for your support!
