Entry #47- Precious Punk Pony · 1:43am Jan 29th, 2018
Long after these episodes have aired, I’m finally ready to talk about them! I feel like instead of rushing to catch up by doing three episodes at a time, I’m just going to focus on one at a time. Maybe I’ll be done by the time the new season airs. I hope so.
This week’s episode is: It Isn't the Mane Thing About You
Some feel Rarity was out of character this episode. I don’t. Caring about appearance isn’t just a shallow thing. Subconsciously, people will judge you within the first ten seconds of meeting you-which can definitely sour any first meetings whether they’re business or relationship related. Granted, you want people to like you for who you are in the inside, but some just may not give you the time to reveal that person if you don’t at least make minimal efforts.
Rarity’s appearance, and positive influence she gets from it likely give her a lot of confidence. She’s grown a lot, but I feel like Rarity is generally an insecure person who needs a lot of positive reinforcement to function. The lesson of making the best of how you look now instead of wishing you looked different is a good one that I enjoyed. I wish we got a few more episodes of punk Rarity, though.
Next week I’ll post the next part of Letters from Daisy Daedal! Look forward to it!

I find it weird that they can travel through time, travel into dreams, make portals to other dimensions, steal and swap talents, turn into other species, and regrow TEETH, but if you want to use magic to regrow hair, you're just outta luck. Developing TIME TRAVEL is less complicated than growing hair. 2 characters as strong as immortal deities combined can't do it. It's so contrived. It does not make sense for hair to be that complicated. It's insulting to your intelligence. No, I really hate this part.
Oh, yeah, and that line about how if they give her hair, it takes it from someone else. We've seen characters materialize things from thin air with magic multiple times by now AND EVEN GROW FACIAL HAIR. They just added this scene to protect the plot from the obvious solution of "Why doesn't Rarity just get Twilight to fix it?" HABEEEEER!

Agreed and well said!
