Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, but what Color is Death? · 4:09pm Oct 22nd, 2012

I'm going to go out on a limb and say canary yellow.

Hey. Notice how slow stuff has been lately? Yeah...

Well, dA knows all about the depths of my madness, so let's do a recap for here:

My health is a little shaky at the moment (read as "I'm going steadily mute").
I nearly checked myself in for mental evaluation.
I live a very unstable life-style.

Writing sort fell out for priorities. Not that I won't write again, just, I need to sort a lot first.

So... Oops. >.>

If we ignore the physical definition, the answer is: Black. dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/misc_YouDontSay2.png
Mental illness is nothing bad as long as you can live with it. It's just.. complex.
I know what I'm talking about, I'm trying to settle down with mine since years, but it just bitches up again and again. Well, gues it would be the norm if it was easy to master such a thing..

Well as long as you're happy there's no problem right? Man that was somewhat depressing, if it makes you feel any better I say less than 30 words per day to others on average, excluding the times I talk to myself, so I might as well be mute.

The color of death? A muddy grey.
The kind of hue you get when you mix all the colors from your paintbox together.
As for your health issues: We all live in interesting (read: unstable) times. Only the very rich and the very, very poor get their kind of stability.
Life is change, get used to it.

Traditionally? White. It is the color of the winter blizzard that sucks the warmth out of you and leaves you a frozen corpse-icle under it's oppressive weight. Also: Bones!

Think about that the next time you see a wedding dress. dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/Luna_lolface.png

440512 Why black? Nothing relating to death is black. In fact, in Asia, the traditional color of death is white, for its lifelessness. Also the number 4 in japan.

440513 Well, I did finally get a doctor's appointment today. Guess we'll see how it goes.

443000
I disagree, black is a lack of colour. So you could say it represents death pretty well. Anyway I hope everything works out well for you.

442518 Knew that for a while. Asia typically sees white as the color of death, which is why I hear that immigrants from India, who put a lot into symbology, are not a fan of Western hospitals, as they are typically very white.

443011 Lack of color, but fullness of pigment. In any case, that represents more darkness than death. It's association is merely connected because of base fears, but connecting black with death is really something that only the West does. In many other places, death is associated with either red (blood) or white (bones and lifeless skin).

443040
There really is no one true answer to this, it's all metaphysical and so will only ever depend on opinions; with asian beliefs being no better or worse then western beliefs. I still say black because it's the colour of neurotic flesh and burnt substances.

I think I'll go with canary yellow like you said due to it being the colour of deathly sick peoples skin. Or maybe Pink for cupcakes.

443000
Well, I highly connect black with death.
Black is a color of strength and anonymity -- in the western culture, at least.
The last thing can be seen in the theatres, where the actors wear black clothes for that reason. (At least, that's what an acting instructor told me once.)
Also, everyone is equal in death, no matter what they have done in they life and who they were. I think in death every "soul" vanishes from the state of being into pure nonexistance. And pure equality grands a great shield of anonymity.
(You can't be harmed when your death, what's an equal to its meaning of strength.)

Then again, there is this metaphorical absence of light. Where no light is, shadows can't exist either. Therefore I associate black with the nothingness of death.
I think that first there was silence. Then the light of live devoured it and in the end blackness will devour this light.

Last but not least, when I close my eyes for sleep, everything also turns black. Many people try to connect sleep and death and so do I. When blackness is what I need for this daily rest, why should it be unrelated to this so-called "longest sleep"?

It may sounds stupid, but those are the reasons and thoughts why I connect black with death.

443068 Oh, I went with canary yellow because that color is just... offensive. :raritycry::rainbowlaugh:

443084 Well put. Of course there's no right or wrong with this, I just like injecting thought into the immediacy to relate learned information. Things no one thinks about, but always connects, you know? Though, just because I have to... "white light at the end of a tunnel". :trollestia:
