    Heads up, Gonna need feedback

I've been workshopping story descriptions for The Wayfarers, and will probably post some of them here soon. I'd gratefully appreciate some feedback on which you find more appropriate, or maybe how I could edit one to make it better.

    Hiatus almost over.

Just a quick post for anyone who's still looking out for me or my work.

I'm sorry it took longer than I originally thought to make another post. I'm guessing any long time follower of mine would come to expect this from me. I've just been dealing with a lot in my life, as I've probably let on.

    Requesting Feedback: New Story Summery

So, I'm thinking of rewriting The Wayfarers summery for the coming year. I've been tinkering with it for a while, but I'm thinking of trying something else completely. Maybe something a little more in the vague side? I want the reader to have an idea of what they're getting into, but I also don't want to be so wordy. I don't know. I'm open to suggestions.

    The Hiatus Blog

Perhaps this post is more of a formality than anything, but it's still one I'd like to make, nevertheless. I want things to be stated plainly and upfront.

New Blog of the Year · 9:46pm Jan 16th, 2018

1. Before I get into talking about the Wayfarers, I just want to give a big thank you to my constant readers. I know there’s a handful of you, I love you all. The Wayfarers is a longcon to say the least, but one I think will pay out big.

Now, where am I on the story? Well, to answer that question broadly, I’m shifting and editing the lengthy backlog of pre-written chapters. To put it more specifically, I’ve hit a snag on chapter 19. You see, I began writing the chapter in early July and finished it later that month.

At the time, I was on the downhill slope of a year long stupor, but still very much in its throes. I was smoking weed on the daily, and didn’t put a whole lot of thought into anything. I mainly just wanted to get words to page, as I was worried about the atrophy of my writing skills. Recently, I picked up the chapter to edit it and -to put it frankly- I was disgusted with the second half. I don’t know what happened, but it looked as if I was just stringing stuff together. Maybe I was high just for that chapter, because the chapters to follow turned out much better.

The one good thing from the original draft of 19 -a draft I have every intention on burying forever- was the first half. It was very brazen, in my opinion, and is an interesting, temporary deviation from the story’s normal narration style. It also gives us a little bit of a deeper look into one of the existing characters psyche, though I won’t say who. I’m looking forward to reading and sharing the finished product.

2. Now, I want to talk about the main project I’ve been working it. It’s because of this project that I’ve kind of put the Wayfarers on a slow burning flame for the time being. I’m not sure if anyone remembers this -I’m pretty sure I mentioned, I think- but I won a writing portion of a big contest back around Halloween on Newgrounds. The Annual Spooktacular.

For what attention the short story did receive, it was primarily -if not completely- positive. The story centered around a side character I had been dreaming up for a while, something for another idea not meant to be. The submission was just a test to see if I could even write, a story of nothing but obscene dialogue spotted briefly with cinematic gore and violence. Image my surprise when not only did other people like it, but I did as well.

Well, a half-baked idea fell into my lap. I had already revised the first short story and wanted to write a follow up, which I started. I estimated the second short to be at the most 16k, double the length of it’s predecessor. Well, I’m currently at a complete total of 32k+ words, and I’m only a little more than halfway through. So, this long shot short story is now on it’s way to becoming my first, full length novel.

This story and the Wayfarers actually have a lot in common. Both are terrible ambitious, and both are larger than life. I think I even see some of the same characters, just that they’re wearing different skins and different names. I don’t know. For the first time in a while, I’m actually optimistic about my writing career.

3. Okay, this part of the blog is going to be a little odd, but bear with me. First off, I want to try and set up an update schedule with The Wayfarers. It’s been difficult to set this up in the past, either due to communication lag between me and my editors, life, or me just being a depressed piece of shit.

Even if the Wayfarers will be slow going till I get my main project out the door, I want to set up a system that is both stress free for me, but doesn’t keep the readers without anything to take hold of for months at a time. Since I’m feeling froggy, the schedule I want to try the most is to update every other month, but post sneak peeks and first looks in between. This essentially would give me two months between an update to write and edit a chapter, but would give the readers both an update on the story and something to tide them over.

We’ll see. I want to get a good rhythm set up with my editors first. I haven’t been able to get ahold of one for a while now, and the other is terribly busy, That’s no shots at them. The Wayfarers is a massive undertaking, and I feel terrible asking anyone to bear it with me. Even with me working at optimal potential, getting 1k+ a day like I have been, it’s a lot leg work. Something will be worked out though.

What I will say is, look out for a first look at the next chapter either later this month or the next, that’s if anyone is interested. Even if there’s difficulty in editing it, I want to try out that schedule pretty soon.

Right now I want to post some link I’d like you, dear readers, to check out if you ever have the time. It’s the first part of my novel, the short story that won the contest I mentioned. It would mean a lot to me if anyone finds the desire to read it. It’s a googledoc, and should be pretty easy to access.

Done with Heroes: My Halloween...

Okay, I think that about covers it. I wanted to talk about some of the shit I’d been going through the past year and a half, the thing that’s really stunted the growth of many of my stories. However, I want to keep this first post of 2018 positive. Maybe all the junk is for another blog post.

Much love.

An extra tid-bit I wanted to add. If anyone, at anytime, is curious about where I am and what I'm doing, then don't be afraid to message me. I'd relish giving anyone who wants to know a quick overview of what I'm working.

Okay, that all.

I'll start the bi-monthly update with the mid-month check point in the next week or so. I had been planning for about mid February since the start, just because I knew I'd hit speed bumps (which I have)
