And so it begins... · 1:00pm Jan 3rd, 2018
How the heck do I have seven followers? That's rhetorical; don't feel you need to answer. That said, if you're seeing this unexpectedly you might have misclicked me at some point, no hard feelings if you unfollow. The first writer I followed here was like that; I clicked by mistake and didn't catch it till like 10 blogs later (the writer in question blogs often... they're cute so I kept following, although his writing is a little too saccharine for me in larger doses). I kept thinking 'why does this guy keep popping up?'
...Anyway. I'm posting this, my first blog, as a reminder to me of what I've already decided: I will write for this site, this year. Frankly, it will happen soon. I'm seriously considering writing for Aragon's comedy contest, mentioned here. For years, or really decades, I have crafted stories in my head to get through work days, spanning all manner of genres. I have rarely held a job that required my full attention for long periods. I think most jobs are like that, since I've had quite a few as I moved around the U.S.A. A few minutes of intense attention followed by hours of auto-pilot. In the last couple years, many of those internal storylines have been ponified. It's really amazing to think about the effect the show, fandom, and fanfiction have had on me, even though I was late to the party and even in this community am very much a wallflower. I even went to Bronycon and plan to go again next year. I had never attended any manner of convention before. I mostly kept to myself, but it was a lot of fun just the same. And I did meet a few good folks that I appreciated the opportunity to speak with, even for a few minutes.
Speaking of stories in my head, I already have an OC pony named Malt Witty with that idea in mind. Those familiar with The Secret Life of Walter Mitty may have an idea where that's going. I have a few other ideas... many of them terrible and cliche that I'm going to love writing because I find them hilarious and I dun care what you think cause I don't charge for stories here. In the past, such things have ended up in other mediums, and all too often inflicted on my DnD players (to varying but usually high degrees of enthusiasm). Now... I will inflict them here. Err... assuming they get approved. Frankly, given some of what I've seen here, I'd be shocked if they weren't. Still, worth noting.
And, speaking of that... if any of you followers are actually spies waiting to strike back for some comment I made... you'll soon have the chance. I'm fully aware that I leave long-winded, often snarky commentary (though I do try to balance it for positive and negative aspects). That seems silly, but really I'm trying to figure out where seven people came from when all I've written is commentary. I edit a couple things here, but not many know about that. Meh, maybe folks are following because they like the comments and think 'if this guy actually writes a story, it'd be worth a look'. Yeah, let's go with that instead.
Anywho, think I'll wrap this up. Future Sun, you'd better be working on this resolution. This is past you, reminding you that you promised you you'd do this. Don't let us down.
Can’t speak for your seven, but typically when someone leaves interesting comments it’s a sign that should they ever choose to publish anything it’s got a higher probability of being worth reading, and it literally costs nothing (even in terms of time) to follow someone who doesn’t blog or post stories, so “preemptive follows” are a kind of silent vote of curiosity in your future plans.
I like your crossover ideas. I think I’ll join the crowd!

Seems it's 17 now , so that's neat. You're not wrong though, I've seen a few people who leave really good comments. For whatever reason, I've been weird about follows.
...Wait, which crossover idea did I randomly pitch? All I can think of is Walter Mitty, Matrix/Changelings, and Nick Valentine in Equestria (Fallout 4, though that one is moderately ridiculous and thus may well get written first).
Anyway, I was like 'wait, I know that name... OH, that guy, cool.' Grats on the contest. I kinda wish I'd written something in time, if only to bug Aragon with something to review. No chance I was marking that leader board, but would've been fun. ...I didn't even realize you'd written BBBCF. Really enjoyed that one, I think it's on my Favorites but I didn't comment on it. I'm too verbose to settle for 'wow, that was really cool'... usually.
Thanks for the follow! As you say, if nothing pops up that catches your eye... you're not out much.
Thanks in return for the kind words!

Well, the Walter Mitty one was in the blog post I responded to, and pony Thurber sounds like a whole lot of fun.

Thurber knew his ponies. The Unicorn in the Garden was clearly a documentary. That fic will be going up here soon, but I want more of it fine tuned beforehand. Probably May. I'll see whether I can do it any justice.
