I’ve been going back through Rarity Gets Caught, patching up grammatical slip-ups that snuck past. I’ve also been dealing with continuity breaks, and some wording that was unclear. A few lines were also improved; prime example was Rarity standing over Salazzle, snapping about that Rapidash wasn’t for sharing...yes, you were right; it was lampshading the whole thing (you know who you are). Much better line now.
I’m debating two things with the story: one, should I change the suggested listening to embedded vids, or leave it as the itty-bitty text links? And second, I’m considering submitting it to EqD, but want to make sure all the grammatical errors are gone first. Somebody has suggested doing a sequel, and I still can’t think of how to do this.
You guys’ thoughts?
And, Happy (almost) New Year!
Edit: I am in favor of leaving the suggested listening as text links, multiple embedded videos in a single page can surely play hell with some people's computers.
For a sequel, maybe Rarity finds she enjoyed the fighting (not so much the injuring, etc.) and she convinces Twilight to figure out a way to make pony-learned moves not do actual damage? Also, Twilight could study technology they brought back from the Pokemon world. Maybe somepony could cross over as a Pokemon trainer? (Hell, maybe Twilight can't find a way to make pony attacks safe, so Rarity is the one that becomes a Pokemon trainer? There'd need to be some way to protect her from being treated as a pokemon, though.)
Or maybe Twilight decides some changes need to be made to the pokemon world, such as "released" pokemon not being dropped at some random spot, (There could be a shelter or something that takes care of abandoned pokemon, adopting them out to trainers that want them? I could see Fluttershy insisting on something like that.)
Another idea, the map could send some ponies to the pokemon world to deal with friendship problem(s), which ends up with them needing to become pokemon trainers, or something.
I dunno, none of that is really solid ideas, it's just some random ones I came up with in a few minutes.
Ultimately, it's up to you as the author, and whether or not you want to embed the songs. Don't let anyone stop you from telling your story your way.
However, I will say that based on what I remember people saying around the site, some readers are not at all fond of embedded videos in the middle of stories, because it breaks those readers' immersion. Granted, some aren't exactly fond of text links in-story either, but that at least seems to be somewhat more tolerated...
