Why Fanfiction? · 3:34pm Dec 28th, 2017
It is a question we ask ourselves. Do we do it to be recognized, do we do it because we enjoy writing and sharing, or do we want an outlet for our creativity? We each have our own reasons for writing. I do it because I love it and enjoy it.
I think that's the most important thing. Lately, my writing on Fanfiction.Net has been criticised for being formulaic and stale. But maybe that's true. Maybe it's gotten boring and people are just tuning out. They can only stay on long enough but at some point they decide not to continue. It's kinda discouraging to lose readers like that. Makes you wonder, "What's the point?"
I think that while we do want public approval, we also need to think about our personal approval while writing stories. Sure, it'll be nice to be recognized, but if you write for the sake of enjoyment, there's no wrong way of doing it. And if you work hard at revising, putting effort to polish up your work, good/bad, you're satisfied with what you got. Because you made it yourself with some extra help. So, whenever you feel discouraged, just remember why you enjoy fanfiction writing. It's not so bad, really.
The world may never know.
Well I say don't be discourage because writing fanfic is full of passion for writers to express their creativities of their favorite shows. So NEVER GIVE UP!
