Man Cannot Keep It Going Forever

There comes a time in a story's life when it's time to stop and say "The End", and I think for Man Cannot Live On Coffee Alone, I'm there.

Spoilers ahead, obviously, for Man Cannot Live On Coffee Alone. And before you think it: no, I'm not quitting or leaving, lol

    30,000 words later...

    I did it!

It's done. The Festival of Friendship Arc for Man Cannot Live On Coffee Alone is done! I'm so happy to have it finally complete. It was a massive undertaking in the best and worst sort of way. It took me a bit of work to shake the rust off, and Chapter 9c might get a touch-up, but for now, with Chapter 9d complete and feeling back to full form, I'm happy to say that it's done.

Yeah, I KNOW what I said!

Title says it all. Yes, I still don't know if I'm going to finish this beast. This arc gives me headaches for many reasons. But... well, when the inspiration strikes, sometimes you just gotta run with it.

Yeah, I know what I said.

The author's note in the chapter says it all, but hell with it.

Update and Cleaning Up my Userpage!

Hey Fimfic, long time no see. Hope you all are well!

Rarity pic, in keeping with tradition!

I'm doing quite good. I'm a full-time teacher these days, and that eats up a lot of my time. Between that, editing work, a healthy long-distance relationship, and D&D, I'm quite busy.

Incoming Chapter(s)! And Patreon? · 7:36pm Dec 8th, 2017

Hey, readers and followers!

So, I've been hard at work on the newest chapter of Man Cannot Live On Coffee Alone, and the chapter I've been working on turned into a huge chapter. I'm currently at 16,000 words, and I still have another big scene to write! It's a bit insane, so I've decided to cut the chapter in half and post each half separately, with a few days between posting the first and second half. By my guess, each part will probably end up being about 8000 - 9000 words long.

The first half should be posted tonight, so keep your eyes open! I'll throw another blog post up when it drops.

Second part, semi-important: Patreon. (I see some of you groaning in disgust. Hear me out.)

I've been considering starting up a Patreon. I think it's a really cool way to get support for the work that I do, and I have a lot of ideas for how to do my Patreon, but the essence is this:

It is not going to change anything about how I write or publish the material that I would normally publish on FimFiction.

I'm not going to offer "early access" to stories, or put gates up around FimFiction content. Instead, I'm going to use it as a "tip jar", for those of you that are interested in supporting my work. I don't believe in limiting the material that would otherwise get seen by the people here that are cool enough to read my work, which in and of itself is supporting me! If I launch this Patreon, it will not change ANYTHING about how I write on FimFiction or how I publish on FimFiction. That's a promise.

That said, there's also going to be a lot of cool limited-patron tiers that will offer some neat stuff, and I also plan on publishing Original Fiction, Dungeons And Dragons content, and Prop and Armor Building content for all tiers of support to enjoy.

The limited tiers will be full of interesting bonus stuff, too. I'll be offering short commission stories to patrons at certain tiers, or editing help, or even allow some people to suggest ideas for stories or request cameos in ongoing stories. Additionally, I've partnered with an awesome artist who is going to be making art for my patrons and stories, which will be offers exclusive to my patrons. At the uppermost tier, I'll be offering up one-shot, one night Dungeons and Dragons adventures that I'll personally host and run online for patrons.

Here's the best part: the lowest tier of support gets access to EVERYTHING, excepting for the unique limited stuff from the upper tiers, which are the art pieces, commissions, and the D&D adventures - the physical things that I can't produce for a large group or which require individual attention. So all the original fiction, D&D content, Armor Builds, and everything else will be made open to all patrons.

So, with that said... what do you think? Does that seem like a cool way to run a Patreon? Everybody still gets all their cool pony content, and the patrons get some neat stuff because they're interested in connecting with me as writer? Does that seem fair? Let me know!

YES MORE CHAPTERS! I’m very much enjoying the story, and look forward to updates enthusiastically!

It sounds like a good idea. Yet, seeing the data that’s been coming down the tubes since the new fees announcement, mostly from creators and not patrons, I’d suggest waiting a bit.

I’m not changing who, or how much, I’m supporting at this time. But a lot of big name creators are already losing patrons, or just a drop on how much is funded. Patreon seems to be having a very rocky point both with patrons and the creators.

Also, there’s Kickstarter’s Dri.p coming up soon, which may be a huge contender.

I just noticed you added a Christmas hat to your profile pic. :rainbowlaugh:

Lulz, of course you would say this. <3

There's no shame in starting a Patreon, and I think you have chosen an optimal way to do it. More power to you!

I'm also interested to see your original fiction work now that I've read some of your scenes from "the coffee story" that were briefly without small horses. I could tell that you had experience outside this genre, or at least seemed like you did. Keep up the great work.
