Just dropping a list for those who've wondered what I've been up to in the last couple of weeks:
•I've landed a job that finally pays more than I've ever made before. The irony is that it's back with the company that was so toxic toward me two years ago, but it's given me the best opportunity in the last eight months so I'll stick with it for now. I'm not getting rich or anything, but it's enough to at least get an apartment secured by January (or so the plan would say).
•Obviously, this means I'm currently looking for places to live. I'm not so immature as I was when I first got a pad, so I should be able to see warning signs of bad neighborhoods early. One of those signs is an apartment that seems too good to be true -- two beds, some 900 square feet, minutes from my work, half an hour from any family member, down the road from my best friend, and all for only a thousand a month? I'm eager to find out more because I can easily turn the second bed into a proper office area. A quiet space where I can actually work on my writing for a living.
•Which brings me to my writing. I was approached by another user who offered to write some/all of FMP for me. I'm hesitant to hand control over when it involves something I've devoted so many hundreds of hours to. Plus, since the user charges for their services, I'm not sure it's worth accepting, since the project as a whole makes no money. If this were a subscription-based story, it'd be different, but alas. Having said that, I'm still putting together the current chapter of FMP, and I'm happy to accept help. But I can't justify an expense, not when I have living spaces on the line.
•On another note, I'm trying to put together ideas for actual e-books. I'm sure I've mentioned this in the past. Essentially, I want to try and make a name for myself and put something into a portfolio, so I'm not just known as a retail mule on my Linkedin. To that end, some ideas I've come up with are viable for children's stories, such as a dog who befriends an earthworm or vice-versa.
•My new job makes me the boss of some people. Part of my responsibility is making sure they follow procedure. Tonight I found out that at least one of them skipped procedure for some reason, which resulted in my best friend (who was using my department's service at the time) having to make a second trip just to get what he paid for. I don't yet know whose head is gonna roll, but...
Also, in spite of my hopes, I was unable to produce a Day-After-Nightmare-Night comedy fic. Anyone want it? It's been sitting in my folder for over a year and I'll give it away.
That's all. See you next blirb.
