    Twilight and Sunset:

Twilight: "Hey Rarity, can I borrow your hair curler, I can't find mine."

Shining Armor: "What? No, no no no...what are you doing? GET OFF MY SISTEEEEEEEEER!"

    Revised Harmony Spirits

I wanted a full set of these with proper art, so with permissions from mauroz, here they are. A couple effects have been tweaked to be consistent with modern vernacular in the card game and for my own better understanding of card design and balancing, and I also added a new "Tier 1.5" form for Twilight so she can have her own Fusion outside the ace monster, and finally added Sunset as a

EqG Specials - "My Little Shop of Horrors", "Display of Affect", "A Little Birdie Told Me", "Super Squad Goals" · 5:55pm Nov 8th, 2017

Keep 'em rolling, I'm always up for more pon... humans!

Oooookay so this is a weird one. It begins with one of the most surprising shots of the entire run so far - a wisp of Equestrian magic floating into the watering can Twilight has. So yeah, Legend of Everfree's ending was not forgotten at all. Twilight begins to water Celestia's garden and the magic of the water makes the plants grow sapient as well as just grow, and they begin singing with her until they keep asking for more water to keep growing. Applejack shows up and uses the sprinklers to dowse them all, which somehow reverses the spell.

A very weird short but enjoyable. The song is a bit surreal and then turns a bit threatening, which works with how the plants keep growing. And the magic plot element is surprising but cool to see. Just, yeah, for most of the short we're watching Twilight have a singalong with plants. Weird.

Next, "Displays of Affection." We establish here Rarity's shop that she works at is owned by Prim Hemline, and she wants Rarity to design a window display. Rarity has no inspiration and then no artistic talent to make her vision come to life, and runs off in shame. But it's okay, it turns out Sunset is a rogue anonymous street artist who does amazing street art, so when Rarity leaves she saves the day and then sees Sunset as the artist leaving the scene.

Meh. There's no real humor in this short, Rarity barely hits a 2.0 on the Marshmellodrama scale. Sunset as a famous anonymous street artist is... eh. Speaking as someone who made an entire fic parodying the idea, she really is becoming too perfect and idealized as a character. This information doesn't really expand or explore her significantly except to make her more awesome than she already is.

Third, "A Little Birdie Told Me". Human Cranky gets to speak as a teacher here. During a quiz Fluttershy's bird friends fly in and she starts chatting about numbers with them, much to Trixie's confusion and annoyance since she sucks at math. "The Honest and Observant Trixie" reports her to Cranky for cheating, but Fluttershy explains she was just resolving a dispute about their nests. Trixie isn't buying it so Fluttershy gets a badass sequence (complete with "Make. My. Day.") where she easily solves a complicated problem in the board. And the short ends with Trixie climbing a tree to ask if any of the birds know trigonometry.

This is cute, Trixie is always funny to watch and her antics are adorable, and Fluttershy gets her moment to be badass while still being adorable. I also find some humor in how when Trixie accuses Fluttershy of getting her bird friends to help her on her quiz, no one questions this and takes this as a serious claim. Somewhere in the class there's a student thinking "a girl talking to birds to get answers to a math quiz is a serious possibility in this school. What is my life now?"

The last short is "Super Squad Goals" and in a comic book-like intro names the location as "Canterlot City" but it apparently isn't the same city as the normal one since the group is visiting. What then do they call the normal city EqG takes place in and why is the school called Canterlot High is the city isn't named Canterlot? Suddenly a thief steals from a jewelry store and the girls turn into their super ponied-up costumes to give chase. They eventually catch the guy and apprehend him. And it ends with the reveal the story was a comic book penned by Sunset.

So this is a bit lame, the major reason being the seven make terrible uses of their powers in chasing the guy and only catch him because he runs into a dead end alley. The animation is cool though, with sudden transitions into comic book-type art with sound effects visualized and such.

And, seriously, this is getting a bit much for Sunset. I adore her, fucking duh, but tone down the coolness factor on her a bit. I wouldn't mind seeing her in a short where she has some sort of character flaw or shortcoming, just to ground her a bit.

Good to know these will be waiting for me when I get home. Thanks for the heads-up!

Where did you find the EPs? Googling isn't bringing anything up unlike the last few posts, especially the Little Shop of Horrors one.

eh they did forshadow her art skills back in that pinkie pie short so its not from no where

Glad to see I'm not the only one getting concerned about this. Yes, Sunset is undeniably the big draw for the franchise, but stop constantly giving her new character abilities or personalities, start fleshing out some of the other Rainbooms a little. One good character's not gonna hold the franchise together for long, too much of a good thing is bad.

4720466 From what I can gather, they're only on Hasbro and Discovery Family apps at the moment.

Keep an eye on Equestria Daily, they always put up links to the shorts.

you can watch them here: Discovery Go

Just keep it bookmarked and check everyday for new episodes since they seem to be putting them up every couple of days.

As for the shorts, yeah the first one was weird but I admit it made me smile. Still enjoying these overall.

My mini-thoughts on these mini-sodes... (I'm likely to put up my own blog post this weekend with more detailed thoughts on all the minisodes to date.)

In general: I love how we're getting to see the girls not just in different new outfits, but also little variations here and there (like Twi's boots in the garden short).

Display of Affection: The overwrought hairpin and excess of beads/pearls aside, that was one HOT outfit Rarity was in. Loved that outfit. That's the only takeaway I have from this one. ("Flanksy" though? REALLY? :facehoof:)

Birdie: Fluttershy's finally wearing a bra. Seems the bitchier she gets, the more body-aware she gets. Also, I laughed at Trixie mumbling "I hate math".

Horrors: Well that was...there. It was kinda funny and all, but it was pretty much just there.

The superhero one: Yyyyyeah...meh.
