Priest: I Like Plans | Life: Screw Your Plans · 3:27am Nov 6th, 2017

I like to keep things low key and never make promises these days. When promises are made, they don't happen. Conversely, if I'm dared to do something, I always do it. My psyche is weird.

Or, let's examine a deeper part of my brain. I'd like to think I can write about all of these deep, emotional, serious topics, then what comes from my fingertips is comedy. Not even great comedy. As I was recently told by someone, I'm very "Hit or Miss." I'd agree. It doesn't stop me from trying to throw the ball in different ways, mind you. But, I'm tangent-ing from the point of this blog.

Naniwrimo.

I hate Naniwrimo.

Because what goes into Naniwrimo is the idea of spitting out as many words as possible. But the conception is that what you have at the end of a month of writing is a full-length novel. Done. Send it to the publisher. We're good.

That's now how novels work.

After you write a book, you go through a vigorous editing process. You break yourself down. Realize why the cleverly conceived line that you poured heart into doesn't work, change it. And beat down your creation until it's refined and sharp at the edges. Then, you send it to a publisher.

Who may accept it. (lucky you. I wish I knew that feeling.) or, more likely, tell you it's not their style or good enough for them, OR say that you like it, but you need to make X changes that involve a whole re-write, plot change, or another month plus of editing. Sometimes with one of their approved editors.

Shit, I'm off topic again.

Point: I was going to do NaNiWriMo this year. To write and finish all of Office Love. It's to the point that every other project I'm working on is on hiatus. Everything. Silly one shots. Everything.

And I have a hell of an idea for a meta story: What the workers of the Daring Do con in MLP-verse thought of the Attendees of the said con. Paralleling to brony cons.

But, here we are, 5 days deep into November, and I've had to make thousands of dollars in repairs and necessary improvements to my home. Now a fraction of my home is without power until I get into the attic, fumble around like a teenager in a public high school restroom as he tries to get his V-card taken, and try to fix the wire tear. I haven't put down a word for said project. (I've put words down for the other project, but I can't talk about that, and it won't be uploaded here, so it's not worth mentioning.)

But, I am bleeding out of several parts of my body. So there's that. And my dog has STOPPED bleeding and won't need surgery. (Thanks vet!) so there's that too.

I can't promise any Office Love this week as I'm getting ready for a big metal show this week. One that's super important to me. My first milestone was supposed to be a chapter wednesday, then releasing chapters every wednesday, but the rate that my life has shaken up this week has just made that impossible.

Thank you as always for your patience. I know that this marks the 4 year Anniversary of when Office Love first was posted on 4chan.

The wait will be over soon.

Take as much time as you need, Priest  Hopefully everything turns out okay for you with the repairs and the show.

I am bleeding out of several parts of my body.

That’s just a normal part of the writing process. Next comes the sweat and tears. So many tears.

Plans are an invitation to disappointment.

I DOUBLE DOGGIE DARE YOU

to be ok fam. :c you worry me sometimes.

I have no idea how someone could write a novel in a month unless they went full NEET mode. (Which I'd personally love to do one day...). I took a week and a half long vacation to write Exchange's finale (25k words), and even then I barely got it done on time. 50k in a month seems like it end up more like a novella with a ton of padding to hit the limit. Dunno how they do it, but unless you're willing to shrug off all your responsibilities and become a hermit, just take things at your own pace.

I feel attacked.

4718666 Do you still need help writing your 100th story even though you have 116 now?

4718686
No but I’m always down for a shitty collab.

4718736 Consider it considered.

When promises are made, they don't happen. Conversely, if I'm dared to do something, I always do it.

I dare you to keep your promises. Problem solved. :pinkiehappy:
