I've only got one, maybe two Personas that drain elements; might need to fuse another before I make my third attempt. It's when he takes control of the entire party that's the problem.
EDIT: Got him on the third try without any extra prep/Persona fusions. It really just came down to luck during the Control phase, plus the precaution of setting a Makarakarn on Yu.
Eh that’s really not that bad I’d seen people face this boss with little problem I guess they fused enough personas that could do good before fighting it
I remember this boss fight, tried so hard to fuse kohryu before this fight, only cause I wanted to though
Try using Shiki-ouji with the null physical ability and leave Yoske out of your party. When your team mates are captured they'll usually default to physical attacks. Optionally you can also put Teddie, Chie and Yukiko in your party, pretty much ensuring you'll take no damage from them.

Personal thing, but this is the fight that ruined me on -karn spells. I had mistakenly switched to a persona that was weak to the element that he was dishing out, but it had Makarakarn, so I cast it, and what did it do. Cast a Ma- spell of something that it wasn't taking extra damage from, knocking down a party member, and then killing me with the element that I was weak to.

Is it because that's what Yu used to defeat him in the anime.
I always used Black Frost for this fight. Null Phys and good elemental spells helped a lot.
What's the name of that persona based on The Whore of Babylon? The skeleton faced woman in red, riding a seven headed dragon while drinking from a poison goblet?
She's really awesome if you fuse her right, at any rate. Not the strongest, but it's possible to make her and thus the PC immune if not outright drain almost every element in the game.
Didn't get her quite that game-breaking my last time through because I mildly screwed up the fusion, but she was still my go-to persona simply due to the excellent resistances and I'd happily recommend keeping an eye out for her for the endgame.
