Zed, the story of a Zorse in Equestria. Plus a little about Zonkeys too!

Hey all, I figured that I would start a series on the minor characters I have made some far. I shall not do one on Wonder, as he had his story, but he will be talked about still every so often.

Who am I talking about this time? Zed the Zorse! Ok, I know many people have know idea about what the hell a Zorse is, but I shall explain in a while. When I first drafted the character, he was going to be a simple Zebra companion to Wonder, and the unexplained backstory about the Sphinx. The Sphinx, in the Wonder-boy games, the Sphinx wasn't a tough boss, should you answer his odd riddles correctly, but, I modelled Wonder as a player who played the game to finish.

Zed was a friend he made in Hope's Asylum, and joined him and, like his Cutie Mark (a lantern with tribal symbols around it) he is a guide, and knows a little more than he may let on. Now, about Zorses! I was looking around the net, looking up what exactly one COULD crossbreed with a horse (or Pony in MLP world) and I was surprised to find out, and later, look up a whole slew of pictures of Zebra/Horse hybirds. I knew right away I wanted Zed to be that! Besides...I SUCK I RHYMING! So, I made him do some rhymes, but sort of badly.

He is related to Zecora as a blood nephew. Where is Zecora's brother/Zed's sire? I haven't thought about it, and honestly, it is not considered just yet. He probably left Hope's Asylum after news of him impregnating a lady pony years back. (Yeah, I don't think I explained it right in the story, but his father is the Zebra, and mother is a female Earth Pony).

Zed somehow found his way to the Monster World and met up with his friend again. It was here that he accidently hit a shocked Silhouette, and showed his skittish nature. (Something I lifted from the information I found, but surprisingly in the show, Zecora is not skittish like most Zebras are supposed to be!) He was introduced to everypony and of course, THAT scene played out with Noir Blade. I feel some ponies, even the Opliptera, have racist leanings, in that they may prefer their own kind. That said, some may resent some, and I figure that there are even slurs associated with some, thus the whole dirt pony thing...=(

When Zed went to talk to Silhouette, she was very much enthralled that he beat her at her sneak attack. She prides herself in her supposed skills as a Guard (though she is clearly a rookie still!) She kissed him, but it took Pinkie to tell him the obvious infatuation she had for him.

Some time during the stories events, he and Sillie had started a relationship. Now, I don't give any details, but if you were to ask Silhouette about it, she would brag they spent some nights together while the Mane Six were waiting to help Wonder leave Monster World. I shall leave it to you readers to figure that out ;p

After those events, they stayed together in Hope's Asylum, and had been together since then as Wonder contacted other towns for his idea. Zed is now engaged to Silhouette, and you Blitzen has some news for him that he will be a father sometime soon! Seriously, I couldn't help having Zorse/Opliptera Crossbreeds!

Interesting fact I found out about Zorses when I was looking for what Zed could be. Although they are sterile, in terms of unable to breed themselves and make more, Genetically, they shouldn't be! A mule, for example, can't breed because of uneven chromosomes, but Zebra hybrids like Zorses and Zonkeys (I swear I don't make these up!) don't have this problem. Why can't they breed? Who knows. In Equestria, due to Magic in the land they can! I don't care...=p

Hmm, speaking of Zonkeys...we need Zonkeys too, It sounds so funny, and I believe Pinkie would love them simply based on their silly name!

Anyway, this is a further look at the humble guide, Zed. Please give this lucky striped Pony your love!

...and yes, one day, I will do a short romance story with Zeddy and his Sillie batgirl...make sure to write me if you would like to suggest some ideas!
