I Was Too Scary · 12:36am Oct 29th, 2017
‘Kay, so today my brother and I went to our aunt’s house to help with her haunted trail to scare some kids we all knew. This trail in particular was a small wooded area with tall but thin trees. But before we actually started the haunted trail, I grabbed a black hoodie, black pair of pants, and the mask to this costume, and attempted to figure out what I was going to do. I spent half an hour trying different walk cycles, ranging from a beast on a hunt to a zombie, but neither felt right. Eventually I settled on a Micheal Myers style, in which I would stand still far in the back, visible but also not immediately noticeable.
I stood there for about 10 minutes, working a little bit more before I heard the voices of the people I was working with, which included my older brother and a bunch of teenage girls, one of which was my little cousin. This is when I made the decision to practice being scary. I waited as they all walked the trail, trying to figure out their positions and jobs, standing dead still and quiet. Eventually they noticed me and screamed a little before calming down. One of the girls asked, “Wait, is that fake or real?” only for someone to say “That’s not real.” After she said that, I switched from Micheal Myers to Jason Voorhees (2009) and I ran as fast and hard as I could towards them, breaking the branches that blocked my path. They all screamed very loudly and ran, legitimately terrified for their lives. The only one to remain was my little cousin, who I ran towards a little before slowing down and taking my mask off to reveal my face.
My cousin and I laughed to ourselves as we made our way towards the girls I scared, who were legitimately shaking in fear. Evidently, one of them was scared so badly she almost cried. Even my big brother told me to never do that again because even he was scared. I swear I didn’t mean to be that scary, but at the same time I’m pretty proud of myself for being that scary. Nevertheless I apologized as they eventually laughed it off.
But sadly, because of how scary I was, I was given a different job to do since the people we were going to scare were little kids. But I swear, I will never forget how scary I was during preparation!
