Rumors

So I'm in the process of reading this pretty interesting manga, where there's something in it called "Puberty Syndrome". The name is kinda misleading, so I'll just explain it do you how I understand it. It details supernatural things happening based on the psyche of the person it's happening to. The person I'm talking about is the main character's sister, Kaede. She left someone on read once, and it caused all her relationships to fall apart (I know it sounds stupid, but it's Japan, and let's just say things work differently over there). Because of this, anytime she sees a phone, she gets cuts all over her body. So rumors start circulating about how she's an emo and garbage, and stuff like that.

So, I started thinking about how rumors started circulating about me once upon a time.

I was in middle school, but even back then, I wasn't super hyped on new trends. If it worked, it was perfect. So, when someone asked me where I got my shoes from, I told them straight that I got them from a flea market.

I wasn't harassed, or anything, but every now and then I'd get a tap on my shoulder asking about my shoes, and I'd tell them every time that I got them from the flea market. my buddies and I were really surprised at how fast news spread, and how quickly they were able to identify me, specifically.
