It begins... (Two Sided Act I Preview) · 4:01am Oct 6th, 2017

The following is a rough draft and is unedited. Subject to change.

When Reflections Speak

Queen Chrysalis briskly walked through the halls of the changeling hive, her steps heavy with anger. Of all the things he could have done, Sea More had to warn them! He just had to protect the time traveler! Turning the last corner, the changeling queen approached a large door; the door to her throne room. The hallway to her dwelling had changelings on each side, still with spears in hooves. The sight of their queen made the guards stiffen, solidifying to the point that they were nearly holding their breath.

Pointing her horn at the sharp seal, Chrysalis pulled the doors open and a gust of air blew into the hallway. No longer wishing to walk and be quick about things, she buzzed her wings and flew into her throne room.

Four changelings surrounded another of their kind with spears pointing dangerously close to the one at the center. At the front of the circle was another changeling with a large scythe in his grasp. A large tooth bared out of the side of the mouth of what one may assume to be the executioner.

“Move!” Queen Chrysalis ordered with a voice that moves changelings on its own. Spreading out but keeping their spears pointed at the traitor. Chrysalis landed beside the scythe wielding guard, then stomped over to Sea More.

“Now explain to me, why have you warned Twilight Sparkle about us?” the queen spoke through her teeth.

Somehow, Sea More refused to show any fear. “I did not warn them about us. I did nothing wrong.”

Queen Chrysalis brought her angry stare close to the changeling. “Then explain yourself Diploma Sea More!”

The streets of Ponyville was such a nice place to witness. Ponies hustled about the less crowded streets compared to the cities, children of many colors chased and played with one another with no worries in the world, and the attitude of the inhabitants were more happy than most places in Equestria. To Sea More, it made him just as happy to just watch others go about their days doing Celestia knows what.

He held onto his disguise with a smile on his face, approaching Twilight Sparkle’s castle at a slow strut. Sea More’s heart pounded in his chest, hoping his plan will be a success. Now before the door of the crystal tree castle, the changeling in disguise pounded his hooves hard on the the seal.

A few moments pass by before one of the doors open, revealing not Princess Twilight Sparkle, but a pink unicorn with a purple mane and a streak of cyan in her hair. “Can I help you?” she cheerfully asked.

“Hello, my name is High Watch,” Sea More started, fanning out his dark-turquoise wings. “I was just wondering, why are there no guards here at the castle?” It was a question that confused the changeling hive for quite some time as to why Twilight Sparkle has no protection other than herself to protect her home. He and the other changelings knew of Tirik’s reign and how he destroyed the alicorn’s library with such ease, without anypony to guard it. And even after his display of power and terror, Twilight didn’t have any guards stationed at Ponyville.

The question took Starlight Glimmer aback and she took a few steps into the castle, slightly suspicious of the character before her home. “What brings up the question?” She squinted her eyes at Sea More, wondering what the pegasus was planning.

“Because…” Sea More took one step forward which was enough to cause Starlight to lower her horn at the stallion. “...what if a thief tries to break in? What if somepony sneaks in and try to harm the princess? What if… I was one of those ponies!?

In a mad dash, Sea More bolted into the castle, adrenaline flooding through his blood. He had no idea what the layout of the castle was like, so he needed to be careful on where he flew. But to his surprise, the stallion found himself still in the air. And in one quick motion, was thrown out of the door. Sea More tumbled on the dirt road, scaring his arms and legs before he looked to the castle; and watched Starlight Glimmer charge him.

Needing to escape, Sea More jumped into the air, knowing he can escape by flying away from the angered mare. “Stop!” Starlight Glimmer barked. Daring to look back to the ground, he expected to see Starlight’s figure to shrink as he ascended into the sky. Instead, Sea More watched in horror as she followed after him, shooting a beam of magic at him. The changeling batted his wings quickly to dodge the flying unicorn’s attack and flew even faster away from Starlight. A flurry of attacks bolted at Sea More, the changeling easily dodging each one with quick maneuvers. The changeling was slightly relieved that Starlight was not as accurate when it came to moving targets, but was still worried about her other magical abilities, nor did he want to find out.

Thankfully, Sea More had a backup plan in case the changeling ended up getting chased; however, he definitely overlooked the flying unicorn possibility. Just ahead, a thick cluster of gray clouds clung together in a dark formation. Knowing his escape was just within reach, he plunged into the mass.

“You cannot escape me!” Starlight shouted as she followed her aggressor. Deep inside the cluster of gray, the mare looked around, seeking out High Watch. “Where are you?” she muttered.

“Over here…” Looking to where she heard the voice, Starlight shot hot magic from her horn, but found nothing. “No, I am here…” Again, she fired and yielded the same result. “You need to protect the castle.” Another shot, another miss. “You wouldn’t want your home hurt, would you?”

“What are you getting at?!” Panic found it’s way into Starlight Glimmer’s voice, worried if the intruder knew more than she would have liked.

“Like I said, protect your home. Or it will fall. That is my request to Twilight Sparkle: protect Ponyville...” In a flurry of worry and anger, Starlight Glimmer fired hot beams of magic every time she snapped her neck in a different direction.

Darting out of the gray clouds, Starlight looked at the mass and began firing into it. In a matter of seconds, the clump of clouds were riddled with holes. “Show yourself!” the mare shouted, her voice cracking.

“Starlight!” Turning around, Starlight Glimmer watched Rainbow Dash bolt up to her. “What the heck are you doing to that cloud? Trying to kill it?”

Grabbing her shoulders, Starlight shook the rainbow manned pegasus. “Bust the cloud!”

“Hugh? You are acting-” Once more, more violently, Rainbow Dash was shaken.

“There is no time! There is somepony hiding in the clouds! They were trying to infiltrate the castle!” In an instant, Rainbow Dash took off and began kicking and bucking the mass of gray. A few seconds passed before there was no more gray cloud.

High Watch was nowhere to be found...

I have begun working on both the prequel and sequel. If I am to successfuly publish them in sequence, I am going to be working on them nonstop. If I am mad enough, I could have them up by the end of October, but the beginning of December sounds reasonable.
