Miss Koi Finally Reviews "Fame and Misfortune" and "Triple Threat" · 10:22pm Oct 1st, 2017

That’s right y’all, I’m finally reviewing that Brony criticism episode and that return of our new Changeling overlord episode:D Yay!

Let’s start with Fame & Misfortune, shall we? Especially we have quite a lot to talk about which is what I did not expect out of this episode:) Then again, Triple Threat provides a lot to talk about too, but let’s focus on the first episode I decided to review shall we? Let’s start with two cute filly OCs, I mean characters:) Haha lol well only one of them looks like an OC, but I mean that in the best way possible because their designs are so cool and cute:3 Especially Toola Roola’s:3 I love how her tail color doesn’t match her mane color, that’s awesome!:D Question though: are they voiced by kids? They sound like they are voiced by kids, that would be awesome if they were voiced by kids:)

Anyway, the episode’s main conflict all stems from the Mane Six expanding upon their ways to make Equestria a better place, besides through their obvious methods like fighting monsters and traveling the lands and such, instead they publish their friendship lessons for all to read:) Haha lol I just love how Fluttershy has tiny wittle hoof-writing and Pinkie Pie has party canons inside her journal pagesXD

But, instead of having little fillies and colts peacefully learning happy go lucky friendship lessons and applying to them to real life, their book created the brony fandomXD Haha lol so hard! I did not expect this, and yet strangely, I like thisXD Let’s face it, if we can’t laugh at ourselves, then who can we laugh at?!XD Which brings up the main criticism about this episode: the episode’s thoughts on brony’s critical opinions about the show. Now, some fans are thinking that the episode is not appreciating the critic that bronies offer to the show. But, I think it’s the opposite. I think the show appreciates the constructive criticism, but the point is to not take it too seriously and to not be too hard for the writers and especially the characters because both are not meant to be perfect. The show itself is not meant to be perfect. Yes, they are doing it in a teasing way which can be hard to understand this message at times. But this teasing, like in the MLP 100th episode, is not meant to be taken too seriously and to let the audience laugh at themselves about their own antics.

The message of the episode does come out in several instances: 1) (which is my favorite scene out of the entire episode) when the fans of the book confronted Fluttershy about learning the same lesson about her shyness over and over. At first, our poor dear Fluttershy was just crawled up in the corner trying to get away from these harsh critics:( But then, she totally became a boss and assertiveness and told the critics that no pony can change their ways and learn their lesson for good after one episode, I mean one day;) And then, lol, the fans comment on how assertive Fluttershy is but then say how much they don’t like or understand this new assertivenessXD HAHA LOL SO HARD!XD This is the Fluttershy fan base struggle!XD

But yeah,I’m surprised we didn’t have Fluttershy fans or just regular fans defending Fluttershy in the crowd with the whole fact that Fluttershy is doing an important something for Equestria, for I don’t know, not only because she is the element of kindness for the elements of harmony, but she reformed Discord and without her, not only would Discord be forever lonely and be without a waifu, but also he would be running wild and free across Equestria. Just saying folks:) Yeah yeah I know the Mane Six can turn him back to stone like last time, but he got out once, he can figure out ways to do that again;) Just sayin;) Lol!

Speaking of Discord, OOOOOHHH MAAAANNN, he would be in Beast Mode like he was in S6 finale if he meet those critic ponies confronting FluttershyXD Go Discord go!XD

2) And of course we have the “Flawless” song which spells out the lesson more bluntly, but still a pretty good and fun song, but still cannot champion “You’re in my head like a catchy song” musical number for Season 7 <3

But at the end of the episode, as much as the show and its writers and ponies are imperfect, so is the fandom but in the most wonderful way possible by, well lol, not having the conflict completely resolved in the end and the crowd is still thereXD I love some of the outbursts that the crowd has like the old lady screaming that “Twilight was better without wings!” or the guy shouting “Will we ever learn that Applejack and Pinkie Pie are related?!”XD HAHA LOL!

Overall, with the nice ending monologue of Twilight and the two fillies from the beginning of the episode, the “critique” and humor in this episode made me give M.A. Larson’s writing 8 hearts out of 10<3 ;)

Before we move on, let’s take a moment to appreciate how Rarity in this episode had her “Twilight/Pinkie gone crazy” moment;) Thank you Rarity, thank you so much;) And congrats, you finally had your crazy mental break down in the showXD HAHA LOL SO HARD!XD Oh man Rarity, I’m sorry that you received no love in this episodeXD I can see the very beginning of season 1 Rarity before “Suited For Success” episode getting this, but not you my dearXD I know you have a dedicated fan base, so maybe, this was made in irony? Question mark?

Anyway, Triple Threat starts out with Spike getting a welcome party for Ember. But instead of a dragon showing up, or at least right away, is a cute bug moose horse:3 Oh man, Thorax and his friendship with Spike was just tooooo adorable in this episode :3 <3 XD! See you guys, Thorax can still be adorable in this new bright neon moose form:) And Thorax only gets better this season;) This will be revealed in a review later, trust me;)

But anyway, I just loved how Thorax got excited whenever he saw Spike and especially he got excited seeing the dragon fire pit at the beginning of the episode:3 Daww the wittle buggie likes the bright light:3 Oh wait, I think I just triggered some imagery of mosquitos going into those bug killer lights 0-0 I apologize for that morbid imagery everyone 0-0

(No Thorax! Don’t look at the light! Thorax responds with “I can’t help it. It’s so beautiful. AAHHHHH!”)

But enough of the morbid jokes about Thorax the buggie, let’s talk about the most interesting and fascinating plot twists about this episode, something I honestly did not expect: Spike being called by the Map:D!

Not only can ponies who don’t have thrones around the map can be called by the Map, aka Starlight, but creatures without cutiemarks like Spike can be called by the Map. Which means, based on this logic, it means ponies or creatures who are really close to the Mane Six can called by the Map. WHICH MEANS, hopefully and I’m praying (yes I’m seriously praying on this), that means Discord could be called by the Map!:D Or at least he should be based on this loic!:D I know I know, Discord and logic in the same sentence is just so wrong!XD

Haha lol sorry y’all, I just really want a Discord and Fluttershy paired up map adventure for my need of more fluffy Fluttercord in my life (I know after Discordant Harmony, I became more greedy for it)

AND for the fact that I think Discord can teach other ponies/creatures good friendship lessons like Spike and Starlight can, but in a fun trollish Discord way:) Discord has a way of helping ponies learn things on their own and Discord can relate to their problems in his own way because he’s always learning about friendship all the time with Fluttershy. He knows how hard it can be sometimes. It could give more diversity to his episodes, develop his character, and plus he has done it before for Twilight in the past:) It just makes sense even though for Discord, it’s more fun to not make sense;)

Anyway, my only problem with Spike’s big premier with the map is cause, well, he caused the whole conflict with Ember and Thorax in the first place and he didn’t fix the problem in the end because Ember and Thorax did. I know they acknowledge all this in the episode and tried to make a joke out of it, and it was kinda funny, lol it actually reminded me of that Super Squeezy Cider episode where Applejack says in the end “I learnt nothing! I was right all along!” Except in Spike’s case, “I learnt my lesson cause I caused the friendship problem all along!:D”

But still, it just bugs me that Spike didn’t get a big role/be a big helper in his premier map episode because we’ve seen in the past how cool and amazing Spike can be when he wants to save the day and all that.

Anywho, this episode was also super hilarious XD Alot of it coming from Ember surprisingly XD My favorite funny moment from her, and out of the whole episode really, is when Ember is trying to make friends with Derpy and she just smashed her muffin against the wall and gave her the wiggly eye brow look XD

Overall, I deeply enjoyed the friendship and interaction between Ember and Thorax (another favorite part about this episode <3), and especially the humor of this episode:) If I had to choose which episode was funnier, this one or “Fame and Misfortune”, I would have to say this episode because I remembered laughing more a lot during this one than I did for “Fame and Misfortune” (even though Fame and Misfortune was pretty dang funny) XD But yeah this episode definitely has to be the funniest episode this season so farXD With an interesting tid bit by Thorax about rebellious changelings in future episodes, I’m giving this episode 8 hearts out of 10 <3
