I'm pretty sure that artical comes from someone a bit too far on the left talking about people a little too far on the right and lumping anyone who uses the word with alt-right racists. Not all people who use that word are racist, misogyist, jerks. I can think of one person in particular that I watch sometimes on YouTube who is a reasonable man, but sometimes uses the word when talking about something he's covering. I agree, and the word racist has been thrown around so much these days that it has almost no meaning anymore. You got morons on the far left who behave more like a religion and call anything to the left of them racist, bigot etc etc for wrong think or who don't agree with them. Then you have the far right who are starting to come out of the wood works cause the media can't help but provide them the ammunition to give them a basis for neo nazis by calling white people racist or a "White Lash" or just generally making everything a race issue when it wasn't. The left doesn't necessarily react so badly to "cuck" because they're being hyper-reactionary and myopic. Which isn't to say we can't be, but in this case there's a simpler reason. It's mostly just that the vilest parts of the internet tend to throw "cuck" at everything they dislike, constantly, so it gets associated with their shitty attitudes.

Like Mr Jim Stirling, who has been pretty frequently called that word by his detractors; indeed prior to this blogpost, the only exposure I have personally had to said word, so I would have been equally as ignorant as Pickleless (more so, since I'm from the UK, and thus the inner workings (as opposed to the obvious results) of US political campaigning is lost on me).
And let us not forget The Internet will happily turn any kind word it can spell easily into as offensive and insult as it can contrive to throw at people as it can manage...
