Mexico Earthquake Relief · 5:55pm Sep 20th, 2017
Hi, everyone.
As I'm assuming most of you know, Mexico was hit with a terrible earthquake yesterday, on the anniversary of an earthquake that ravaged the country 32 years ago. Because fate is cruel that way.
Though my friends and family are safe, my hometown of Mexico City, as well as many other cities, are suffering terrible damage and a death toll that just keeps rising and rising as more and more people are salvaged from under collapsed buildings. If you are able, please spread information, and if you have the means and funds to help, please do so. Dollars are worth double and almost triple what Mexican pesos are, so a small donation could mean a big one for them.
Thank you.
UNICEF Mexico - website is in Spanish but using the translate feature on your browser works well. For the country drop down list, find “United States” as “Estados Unidos”
Brigada de Rescate Topos, a local disaster relief volunteer organization where brave men and women dig their way through the rubble to rescue trapped survivors, can accept donations via paypal at this email: donativos@brigada-rescate-topos.org
You can also donate to groups using crowdfunding sites, including Global Givingand GoFundMe.
Nonprofits on the ground in Mexico City will need supplies, including water, batteries, medicine, food and canned goods. Groups and locations that are accepting all types of donations include: Oxfam Mexico, Save the Children Mexico, La Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Project Paz.
If you are actually in the area, you can also help by doing things like opening up your wifi network so people around you can get online, and retweeting emergency services information or warnings to the public. This article has more information.
Thanks for the links, Mono. I'm coming into payday in a bit and was actually going to ask if you knew who was best to research and give to.
I'm checking on other Mexican users here, but it'll be useful to keep spreading the word on how people can help.
Thanks

Jesus, I'm glad to here that you and your family and friends are safe, but I'm sorry that this is even happening. I've just finished sending a donation to the Global Giving link you have posted; I'll try to set up a charity stream or at least a charity auction on some designs soon too. Please stay safe!
