    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

C&C chapter 40 entering prereads tonight + teaser

Much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to break it up since the full length of the War Council meeting had exceeded 20,000 words and will probably approach 25k for the now-two chapters before all is said and done. The breakpoint itself will be between learning about the general war situation both Aricia and the Griffon Kingdom face, and then discussing what in all the Crows they’re going

Midnight Rising/C&C update: April showers may bring May flowers...

But of more interest is the emergence of 17-year cicadas in my area. Big, ugly, red-eyed insects that are the size of your thumb but basically harmless, as long as you can get past all the shed skins they leave behind on leaves and the everpresent and disconcertly loud background sound they produce as a mating call. Fortunately, the outbreak in my area seems pretty limited. There's a few around,

Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

Knee surgery tomorrow... · 2:13am Sep 20th, 2017

So a couple months ago, my gym partner convinced me to start training to run a half-marathon with him. Feeling game, I began to, but pushed too hard too fast and didn’t upgrade my shoes or socks to something more suitable for running. I made it up to five miles, but the result was severe foot blisters... and a cartilage tear in my right knee that caused severe swelling and pain.

As a result, I’m getting operated on tomorrow to remove the torn cartilage piece. It’s an arthroscopic procedure, which means minimally invasive, but I still expect to be hobbled and on prescription painkillers for a few days after. I’m hopeful I can use the down time to write, but I don’t know how well I’m going want to or even be able to hopped up on Oxycontin. We’ll just have to see. Which is a pity, because I’m anxious to write out the next TLaTU chapter.

On that subject, I kind of rushed the release of the last chapter to keep my promise to get it out during the weekend. So I gave it another pass today and expanded/smoothed out the ending in particular, adding more lines, thoughts, and detail. Can’t promise more tweaks won’t come either, but any major additions or changes will be reported. It may also be that I’m in absolutely zero mood to write anything adult after surgery, in which case I’ll see about working on the next Firefly chapter.

I’ll check in after the procedure is done and I’m lucid again. In the meantime, your thoughts and well-wishes are appreciated.

Good luck! I hope everything goes well for you!

Don't Stephen King and write I always say. Otherwise children end up having an orgy in the sewers while a legless black woman gets raped. Just say no!

But seriously, we wish you all the best! :pinkiehappy:

Good luck on a speedy recovery.

Good luck and get well soon.

Ouch, dude. I hope you have a quick recovery.:applejackunsure:
