A Different Path update

So, this was supposed to be a short story of only ten thousand words at most. It's now over twelve, and the unfinished chapter and epilogue I'm working on is already at another three, and I'm not really all that close to being done. This story really got away from me, and in order to drag it back into focus, I've had to add a couple more scenes than I intended.
The original focus of the story was supposed to be about Starlight's other self, and how she committed suicide, and that how would make Starlight question her choices in life, as well as how she viewed herself and what she could have done differently. Starlight's confrontation with Twilight in Chapter four, though, wasn't in my original outline, it was something I added while writing it.
At the time, I thought it was a good idea; Starlight did disobey Twilight, and the confrontation the two would have over that was a good way to tackle an issue we saw Starlight struggle with in the show, but we never really got to see resolved, namely Starlight's fear of rejection and abandonment. And now, the epilogue is trying to deal with another issue, but I won't spoil what that is.
But, all this does mean that the focus has been dragged away from the main part of the story, so I'm having to fix that, and I've finally settled on a way I think works well. Now I just have to write it, and it's already shaping up to be a long write.

Bottom line: Story will (hopefully) update before the month is over, but it might not be the final update if I can't get the fifth chapter done in a timely manner so I can also finish the epilogue. On a side note, I'm excited to finally be finishing a fanfic for the first time.
