15 Years of the Resident Evil Anderson Films · 11:05pm Sep 9th, 2017
So... the Resident Evil fandom, one I've proudly been apart of for... roughly over a decade at the most, and spent a good portion of my life lusting after the original games while I played both Outbreaks, 4, 5, 6, and ORC. I also watched the CG Movies and, the Live Action movies, the Anderson universe.
I finally watched the (supposed) last in that particular line of movies, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. 15 years of these live action films, since the first one hit theaters 2002 to the (again, supposed) last one which hit 2016. I've been waiting for this moment, this ending for so long since I got hooked into the Resident Evil fandom after playing Outbreak for the first time when I was like... 11 or something.
Watching the movies was great. And to this day, Extinction is still my favorite movie, I love it the most cause it introduced me to the Mad Max franchise, and the post-apocalyptic/Mad Max feel gave me delightful shivers. The first movie, Apocalypse and Afterlife were good movies as well.
Retribution was... mmm, a decent film, but honestly not one I liked. Sure it had Ada Wong and Leon in it, but it was kinda meh.
And now... the Final Chapter, the one that dropped so many fucking bombshells on me. Hell, I saw the biggest coming a mile away after the first bombshell. I won't spoil it, because... idk, I don't wanna. I mean, it was a great movie, don't get me wrong... but an hour isn't nearly enough to end this on, I mean... seriously. Needed to be at least 2.. 3 at the most.
Yes yes yes, I know, movie budgets and all that, but damn son, it felt like it went by too fast. They need to Lord of the Rings that shit.
Now they're over... maybe, and now I just feel kinda empty, like... I loved those movies, and while I'm sure we'll get some more CG movies and games, seeing the Live Action ones end has kinda left this hollow feeling in my gut.
...
On a side note, I watched Vendetta, and it was the shit! if you haven't watched it, watch it now. It's glorious, and Leon is still a badass as always.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely day.
The way the dog tore that guys head off in vendetta got me laughing my head off.
