Another year, more of the same...

It seems my various distractions lately have even prevented me from making my annual blog post on the day I had intended to. This past year, while I did successfully complete one more chapter on my main story (and even managed to do it before the year was halfway over as I had really hoped for), that was unfortunately all I was able to deliver to show my efforts. Kind of strange to look back and

Somehow, this became a lost year...

It has now been a full year since my last blog post, and how much progress did I make in my LEGO Equestria Girls series since then? Well, after finishing one of the side stories back in April, I have sadly made virtually no further progress at all. Why? To be honest, I'm struggling to figure that out, myself.

End of the year... and very little progress done...

Well, what can I say? My accomplishments this year have been nowhere even close to what I had promised. Had I been able to stick to my intended plan, I would've finished the tenth main story months ago, would've finished probably six or seven side stories, and would now be preparing to start the eleventh main story. But the sad reality of what I had actually managed to accomplish is not even

Halfway through the year, and my latest story is not even halfway done...

It is now the end of June, the halfway point of the year. Six months ago, I had promised that I would be able to maintain my self-imposed schedule of completing and posting a new chapter once every two weeks, despite delaying the start of the tenth main story a month later than I had originally intended. As I'm sure you all have noticed, that promise has since gone flying out the window, and I

    The tenth story has begun

I have now just published and submitted the start of my next story, LEGO Equestria Girls 10. Well, everyone, it's finally here. The very first LEGO Equestria Girls story not based on any official content, and therefore consists almost entirely of my own original ideas.

Further plans for my series · 12:00am Sep 5th, 2017

Now that I'm finished with the fourth story in my fanfiction series, it's time for me to explain what I've got coming up next.

First, you may recall from my latest blogs that I had considered writing a "blooper reel" of the main stories in the series, but chose to wait until after the fourth story was finished so that all four chapters (one for each of the main stories) could be done within a small time-frame rather than forcing you to wait a whole year on the last one. And more fortunate, seeing as this year's Equestria Girls content does not seem to include another such blooper reel, now seems to be the perfect time to finally proceed with this idea. After all, Lego is famous for its quirky humor, and writing a "blooper reel" for the stories I've written would be an excellent way to demonstrate that to its full potential.

And of course, I'm also planning the fifth main story of the series. As usual with previous years, I'll begin writing in January next year, and you can expect to see the first chapter published in early February. As I'm sure you can easily figure out, the fifth story will be based on the three half-hour Equestria Girls specials that came out earlier this summer, all combined into a single story. Even so, I'm anticipating the fifth story will have even fewer chapters than the previous stories (though I honestly don't know what effect that will have on total word count). Also, in hopes that I can avoid the writing struggles I had suffered this year, this next story will be more closely based on the official Equestria Girls content, so it's unlikely the cast will be going anywhere outside the city. Even so, I'll still make sure to throw in a few twists here and there to make it more interesting than the official content. Above all else, I'm just really excited to have the opportunity to bring Starlight Glimmer into the Lego World.

I'm even already considering what other possible ideas I could go with after that (even though that's now talking about stuff you won't be seeing for over a year from this point). There's one concept in particular that I've been really eager to include since last year, but I just couldn't find a good opportunity to include it in this year's story or in next year's story. In addition, even though it's been only a few days since the episode "To Change a Changeling" was first shown, I'm already coming up with possible ideas on what the Changelings' Lego World counterparts could be like, particularly in a way that would never be possible in the official Equestria Girls, but certainly plausible in the Lego setting of my series. Both of these ideas of mine are only "possible ideas" and not "definitive plans" at this time, so we'll just have to wait and see how things will go next year.

I have heard that there's a real possibility that next year, Equestria Girls will be made as more of an episodic series rather than just a single large release. If that turns out to be true, my fanfiction series could very well hit a crossroads point once the fifth story is completed next year. One option would be to keep following the official content and move to writing a more slice-of-life series of lesser stories, but even though I do already have some possible ideas, I doubt I could come up with enough to cover an entire season's worth (which probably explains why the main show has different writers between each episode), not to mention how incredibly time-consuming that could be for such a slow writer like myself. The other option would be to go with my own original ideas that I've been considering, but then that would mean completely ignoring the official content for the first time ever, and there's no way I can know for sure what the consequences of that would be. Well, at the very least, I've got over a year to think about all of this before it will start to be a concern.

Anyway, for now, I am about to start writing the first of the "blooper reels". You can expect to see them up sometime throughout next month. After that, I'll begin writing LEGO Equestria Girls 5 at the start of next year, and I hope to see people will still be very interested in what I've got coming up for this fanfiction series.
