How Many Times Does Trixie Actually Say "I"?

One of Trixie's best-known traits in the fandom is that she speaks in the third person all the time. But does she really? Turns out, no one has ever counted the times she says "I." Until now...

Reference/Inspiration List for "Where Black Seas Lap the Shores of Dead Stars"

Rather than litter the author's notes with references in my usual style, I thought I'd try something a little different. So, for the curious, I've made a separate blog post of all the references and allusions you might have missed!

Hat Man Reviews: "Haze" by Bandy!

Haze is a story that is filled with big ideas: Cloud empires. Flying earth ponies. Ancient religions. Superpower-inducing fungi. Unfortunately, much like the mushroom-munching ponies in this story, this story might be biting off more than it can handle…

One last Harvey update · 9:18pm Sep 3rd, 2017

Just letting you all know that I'm fine. Harvey's come and gone and I escaped the worst effects of the storm. Nobody I know personally was displaced or flooded out, though a lot of folks here in Houston fared much worse. (And if you're able to and of a mind to, consider making a donation to help victims here and here. Totally your call, but you have my thanks if you do.)

Lots of the streets are still flooded, mind you. Here's a short video I shot almost two days after the rain mostly stopped.

And here are a few more pictures from around the neighborhood:

This tree is right outside my window. Luckily it didn't fall onto the nearby power lines.

Doesn't look like much, but way in the distance, you can see the water came almost all the way up to the bridge that goes over the ditch.

This overflow area is actually quite deep. It catches overflow from the ditch in the last picture, and it had already gone down slightly by the time I took this picture.

A nearby apartment complex had damage to one of its gates, though I'm not certain what happened. My guess is that a car lost control during some of the flooding and crashed, but I couldn't say for certain.

Thanks again for all your kind words of concern. I appreciate them. And I'll have some more stuff to say about The Iron Horse and other stories real soon.

Thanks for the update, and I'm glad you're doing alright.

I know the feeling :/

I was on long island when hurricane sandy came, due to the hurricane before that, me and many people didn't take sandy as seriously as we should have. I ended up stranded in my house for a day until the water lowered a bit but the image of an entire car disappearing under the water will always be in my mind. The biggest pain was the fact that I didn't have power for weeks.

No power for weeks? Wow, well you certainly had it worse than me. A few folks around here have also been badly affected, but slowly things are returning to normal.

You want my opinion on Trump visiting Houston? I normally don't talk politics, but in this one case, I will: I think it speaks very poorly of a man who wants to make cuts to FEMA, HUD, and other disaster relief programs, along with denying the climate change that will likely lead to more and stronger hurricanes, but then outwardly poses for some nice pictures and donates a million dollars (a large sum right up until you realize he could easily drop ten times that much and not even notice) to show what a "great" guy he is. Showing up during the disaster is nice, but that's a pretty bare minimum for a sitting president. I'd rather he stay at home and speak about the need for government programs that help prepare for such events and that are already helping people here in Houston than use us for his own PR.

Glad you're alright, bro.
