Hope everybody is doing well. I've been... busy. Extremely busy. Life threw a few curve balls at me about three weeks ago, and it pretty much stalled out everything creative I was working on as I rushed to deal with things quickly. I'll put it bluntly: I was probably a few weeks away from losing my home due to financial issues. I've been out of work for three months, and had been waiting on a teaching credential to clear, and a few unexpected things happened that changed my financial situation from 'strained' to 'impossible'. I've since taken on two jobs, which I am going to be working pretty consistently for the next... while. So my writing time has had to come only in times where I can focus and really work on things, because otherwise I'm too tired or stressed to put proper effort into it. The most recent chapter got slowed down due to this. I'm really pleased with the end result, though!
I've gotten that financial situation mostly under control, now, and things are looking far, far better than they were. My teaching credential still hasn't cleared, because the state is about 60 days behind on processing applications. Hopefully within the next month or so I can get that credential and get a more steady, high-paying job, but currently I'm working those two jobs.
So... that's what's been up with me! Apologies for the delays, but now that things are far less dire, I should be a bit more regular about updates, albeit a bit slower due to constrained writing time.
As for commissions, those have been awesome. I've been getting roughly two commissions a month for the last three months, and it's been an extremely fun way to write and make a little money on the side. I really appreciate the people that have commissioned me for various projects, and I'm excited to keep taking on commissions. I may limit my commissions from three per month down to two, because with time constraints on my writing I can't reliably deliver a chapter a month of Coffee Alone and three potential commissions as well.
