My Newest Story · 1:52am Aug 9th, 2017
Yesterday, I released the first chapter in something that is incredibly strange for me. That story is the Equestria Wrestling Federation (EWF, for short), and it's a sort of love letter to what may be my absolute favorite form of entertainment: professional wrestling. And it's weird for a few reasons. For one, it's hella long. The first chapter alone is pushing 10k, which downright obliterates my usual chapter length of 2-3k. It's strange because it's "pre-recorded", so to speak, in of the sense that I had several chapters ready to go before I started to release. This was because of my first point: this story is extremely long and slow to produce. I started in February and am only just now able to release any content (not to mention I'm actually dropping the chapter earlier than I intended, mostly as a motivator to make me finish writing.
But what makes this story especially strange is that I have very low expectations on this story doing well.
And that might not sound too weird, but it's actually really different for me. Everything I write, I do it with the hope of it doing good in some facet. Like, I consider any story under 30 likes to be a failure, as well as any story with a negative like/dislike ratio. I've canned stories that I feared weren't doing well, even going as far as to delete one particular story that went into the negatives. The reason for this is that I care way more about your opinions than I probably should. I'm an aspiring author, and I feel like I need your constant validation in order to stop myself from feeling like I'm making a mistake in life. So, for me to effectively shoot myself in the foot like this is really, really odd.
Maybe I'm spoiled or entitled or whatever you wanna say, but this story is currently going 7-0 in likes/dislikes (and one of those likes is from me), and I immediately began complaining to my friend Conjure. As we're talking, he mentions that I knew going in that this story would be super niche, and not too many people would be down with it. Then, he tells me that this can't be like my other stories. I can't write it for views or likes or comments. He tells me that, this time, I'm gonna have to do it for my own personal enjoyment.
And you know what? The son of a bitch was right. So, this is my one and only advertisement of the story.
The Equestria Wrestling Federation doesn't adhere to a typical fanfic format. It is, effectively, an episode of WWE Raw or Smackdown, but in text form. I don't know how else to really describe it or sell you on it besides saying this: It's frigging pro-wrestling! With humanized ponies! If you're feeling a bit trepidatious, here's a preview of the first episode of Monday Night Magic (roughly equivalent to WWE's Raw)
The Dazzlings (Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk w/ Adagio Dazzle) (c) vs Vinyl Scratch and Octavia Melody [Non-title match]
Rarity Valentine (c) vs Luna Regal for the EWF Intercontinental Championship
Pinkamena Diane Pie vs Starlight Glimmer in a #1 Contender's Match for the EWF Nationals Championship
Adagio Dazzle vs Sunset Shimmer (If Sunset wins, her team gets a shot at the Dazzlings' EWF Tag Team Championships.
This story will update every Monday and Friday until a pay-per-view chapter at the end of the month, then go on break so I can recharge my batteries. If you like pro-wrestling, or would like to get into pro-wrestling, then this might be the story for you. So, if you would be so kind, please check it out at your earliest convenience.
Somehow this reminds me of that old cancelled fan game "Fighting is Magic."

They're similar in of the sense that FiM was made by dudes who's love of ponies is matched only by their love of fighting games. I don't much care for fighters, but I was very interested in Fighting is Magic, and would've bought it if it would have ever come out. Shame.

You're right, you're right, I just can't help it. I'm like one of those kids in class who's self-esteem is tied directly to their test scores. I know it's illogical, I just can't stop feeling sucky about it.
And yes, I did know about Cheerilee and her sister. I actually had a Bella Twins thing planned to do with them in EWF, but they sorta got lost in the mental shuffle.
