Playing as Tails, are you? Interesting. I'm always reluctant to play as Tails alone in S3&K because I had a much harder time with the Marble Garden boss as him. Are just just doing a Tails run, or are you adding a Knuckles run (different "story," different level path) or a Sonic & Tails run for the sake of Doomsday Zone?

My 1.09 million 100% run two years ago was Sonic & Tails, and honestly? I think I'm going to absolutely destroy that simply because Tails' flight ability lets me collect an unholy amount of rings pretty much every level. Add in 100-250 every Slot Machine bonus round, and I'm averaging 300-500 rings every act.

I don't recall how time and ring bonuses are calculated for levels that go right into the next one with no tally, like Hidden Palace Zone into Sky Sanctuary, and Death Egg 2 into Doomsday, so we'll see when it comes to it. Last time I just screen capped the score immediately before the whiteout when Sonic grabs the Master Emerald.
