I wrote and published the one-shot story "The Things We Did..." at around 7pm on Sunday evening (Australian Eastern Time).

Truthfully, I only ever wrote and published the story to get it out of my head and down 'on paper', so to speak, after seeing totallynotabrony's piece of fanart that depicted Nurse Redheart as a USAF Pararescue operator (the source can be found on the story's page).

I figured it was a decent story and felt it was only fair to share it.

I woke up at 6am the following Monday, and checked the website on my phone whilst getting myself prepared for work. Imagine my surprise when I see 20+ notifications about comments and favourites/read it laters/[insert library name here] alerts, as well as 'user has followed you' alerts. Imagine my surprise when I saw that my story had hit the Featured Stories box on the front page (even with the relatively low view count.)

To all of you that read this story, and liked/favourited/saved it for later... I thank you immensely.

I honestly never expected a story like mine to be read that much in such a short space of time. I never expected it to have the impact it had with some of you guys and girls out there (you know who you are). And I am so very humbled to hear the feedback and read the comments I've received regarding how you found the story and how it made you feel or who it made you remember.

I've written a short epilogue, the contents of which was alluded to towards the end of the story. It's only a fraction of the length, and I'm not sure if I should publish it and 'potentially' cheapen the impact of the main chapter, or if I should and add to the emotional impact of the story overall.

Let me know what you think I should do in the comments or via PM. I'm genuinely unsure if I should or not.

Thank you.
