Update on life and stuff. Not on the story, though. God no. · 10:42am Jul 17th, 2017
Heh heh.
So, in case anyone was wondering, I'm still alive; Not done with college, #somethinginspiringorwhatever; I also haven't simply been sitting on my ass regarding the story you guys seem to like me working on (or just like bitching about in a confused social-justice/righteous-keyboard-warrior fashion). I just had to plan a few things ahead, filter out what stays and what goes according to whether these things work towards the general themes I'm going for (and whether they're either too cliché or otherwise unoriginal/ stressful for the suspense/ memes and other stupid childish stuff). There are several items on that list which needed sorting, mostly concerning Necky's symbolic inner conflicts and Luna needing better character development. So far she's more a supportive character/ source of exposition than the relate-able Best Princess which I wanted her to be.
Both main characters need to 'Save the cat', also the next chapter needs to accomplish the 'Bechdel test' among two demigod rulers and two eldritch entities; So yeah, lotta fun to be had there, no sarcasm, but my overbearing perfectionism won't be satisfied until it's 'just right'. Which is something I've explained from the beginning.
I also need to flesh out not one, but two worlds according to metaphors for,
-1 a Dark Fantasy world, superficially sustainable enough to accomplish suspension of disbelief despite my penchant to stress over unnecessary details; a world made in the spirit of Neil Gaiman's work (because why the fuck not), at least I have that much for orientation; and,
-2 a Fey universe where I need to juggle the OP game-shattering 'Magics' Equestria has in a reasonable way. The guys that were concerned about me making cartoon physics are right, this shit is a nightmare to handle. I was just going to say that, they have the ability to shape the world according to their whims via use of magic the same way we've changed our own environment with technology and society. Add in a global-psychic-hive-link-thing to make the world of Not-Equus(Still thinking about a name) more like a large organism, so it's less of an arbitrary mass of mythology with no rhyme or reason. That's right, I'm so much of a fucking masochist that I'm trying to debunk philosophy.
Oh, and there's also ANOTHER important source of headache.
Necky had a wife. A hundred sixty seven years old, that's plenty of time for even him to get bored of life and give 'raising a family, growing old and dying' a shot. She died, kinda violently, and he would've brought her back if he could before arriving in Equestria. He can reasonably do that now, because that's kind of his thing. Barriers need placing, gimmicks and conflicts need dreaming up, it's a nightmare. Suffice to say, I've been pretty conflicted. I honestly can't introduce her, for reasons, and I honestly can't not introduce her, since she's kind of important for Necky's development. So I decided, I'd do both and neither and the same time.
Trust me, it makes perfect sense in retrospect.
Good to hear. Good luck with college.

Thanks m8 :)
…debunk philosophy without solipsism. Else, who cares about what all those not-really-people did with words?
