Spoilers for upcoming Sequel to "Upgrading the Railway Network" · 1:10am Jul 10th, 2017
Here's something to whet your appetites while I work my backside off-A spoiler for "Steam, Steel and Streaks Gala":
“Are you sure this is safe?” Shining Armor asked Lexi as she backed down onto the long mock up military goods. “Your a power class 3! This train's classified Power Class 8!”
“You haven't seen World War II,” Lexi pointed out. “Power Class 3's often were seen on Power Class 5+ trains.”
“Tell us your going to have your wagon's brakes pinned,” Cadence said.
“Nope,” Lexi said. “This is the full experience. During WWII, crews weren't allowed to pin brakes for fear sparks would set off their munitions loads.”
The two stared in horror.
“There's no adverse grades between here and Canterlot!” Shining yelped. “You're basically begging for it to go wrong!”
“I've seen this done twice on Sodor,” Lexi chuckled. “Once with Arthur and once with, shock of all shocks, Molly. And considering these two have seen Darlington, King's Cross, St. Pancreas, Euston, and major junction stations leveled by German Bombers, they're hardened to stuff like this.”
“I can guess why,” Flurry said. “It's all part of life?”
“Yes,” Lexi said.
As Lexi was coupled, Flurry explained the story of what they were reenacting to her mom and dad. Shining Armor, raising a brow, gave his daughter a concerned gaze.
“Be careful,” he said.
“We will,” she promised. “Leon's in charge of the train and Skyla's the guard.”
As they went their ways, Lexi looked over at Shining Armor.
“Your Grace, if you want to see what we're fully doing, your welcome to jump in the brake van,” she said. “Because you'll be surprised at what's going to happen next.”
Shining Armor climbed into the brake van. Leon whistled for two bankers to move the train off the flat. They were crawling along at 12 miles an hour.
“Your not to chuffed about this dad,” Skyla said.
“No,” Shining replied. “We should have had a proper engine.”
“Just wait,” Skyla said.
Before Shining could say anything, the clashing and clanking of unfitted wagons sounded and the train began to pick up speed faster than a stone being dropped off a cliff. Skyla dove for the brake handle and threw it on, locking the brakes on the van. Shining watched as towns and stations roared by in blurs of jumbled colors and shapes. How Skyla wasn't sick was beyond him, considering they ate lunch before doing the reenactment.
Soon, the train came to a halt in the middle of the main line.
“We should continue to Ponyville,” Shining said.
However, Skyla was outside and signaling Leon and Flurry to send the train backwards. Shining Armor gave his daughter the “You've gone and cracked your head”.
The train moved backwards and over the points leading into a wooded area. Shining Armor looked at the route the train was taking. He'd been over the mainline numerous times and had never seen this new junction. As the brake van cleared the first layer of trees, Shining Armor saw a giant marshalling yard, bigger than Dodge City's yard.
It was full of wagons of supplies! There had to be at least 1500 wagons, if not more! Shining Armor watched as the train came to a gentle halt in the hidden yard and the wagons were uncoupled. Just then, a small swarm of locos descended on the train and took it to it's component parts and marshalled each wagon into it's respective siding.
“Holy,” Shining gaped. “I've never seen this before!”
The proof
That's cool

Considering that event was common in World War 2, I figured "why not use that?"
How do you feel about Samneo The Water Dragon,
(Sorry if I'm ignoring the main subject about this blog.)
Trains are the most nostalgic thing in my life.
4597146
I like it. He's a cool character (All puns intended) and the Story's got real promise.
4597147
I asked you about it because the first three chapters are getting a huge re-write..
Not really my choice though..
But I understand what they're getting at.
4597156
That's alright.
4597159
Honestly though, I'm getting sick and tired of seeing my story not getting any traction, as in getting on the rails(No pun intended) and flowing correctly. I'm doing this series for fun, and it will save me from depression.
But even then I'm still at square one since I've now officially closed Sam The Earth Pony, A.K.A. No longer touching it, I'm ready to move on from that story. So I have my attention on Samneo The Water Dragon at the moment.
I'll make a blog where I'll be talking about what Sam The Earth Pony was going to be. But I don't know when I'll do that.
4597169
I've been there before. It takes a while to get into your niche.
4597182
Niche? You mean style right?
4597217
Your style, which includes character presentation, location presentation and even history.
4597220
Well I was told that I pretreyed the mane six wrong
4597222
It's your story, Portrayal of a character is how you make it. Remember-Greatness is what you make of it.
4597227
I see, but now I'm feeling the confusion sinking in, comparing your words to JackRipper's. So for now I will ask, as a follower/followed:
Can I keep up this story on my own?
Or do I need more to learn than meets the eye.
EDIT: I take advice, and criticism.
4597234
You can keep it up on your own. You have the talent within you. As for learning, you will learn as you go.
4597236
Perhaps...
I got the first draft of Prologue 1's re-write, this re-write is something that me and my older sister are doing, but now that I look at this draft... I'm starting to think that I might work as a stand alone chapter...
Rainbow Dash and Samneo were having a casual stroll through town, Samneo suggested the idea. The two didn't say much to say the least, Samneo was mostly mute, Rainbow would ask Neo some questions, like "Where are you from?" or "What do you wanna talk about?".
But he didn't really say much, he did however asked if they could eat somewhere, Rainbow agreed, and the two set off to eat somewhere, they'll get dissert at Sugar Cube Corner, and they'll eat at the eatery. Rainbow then began to think about Samneo in general, he was sort of quiet, he was vary vocal in the past though, throughout last year at least. Samneo was kind of someone who's vary confusing to her, her friends kept telling her that he was this and that, but they all tell a different story about him.
Leading her to believe that he has multiple personalities, which seemed to be right. Rainbow didn't really like Neo though.. He was always acting strangely and he seemed to be oddly possessive around her. Which unsettled her by a ton, even when she's talking to stallions, he's always glaring at them, looking like he was ready to snipe them with his aqua breath, and yes, he watches from afar. Neo was vary bizarre in her opinion. Her thoughts were interrupted when Mrs. Cake asked her about the cake's flavor.
"We'll take chocolate." Rainbow said, Samneo asked her about Strawberry. "What? I don't like Strawberry!"
"Uugh.." He thought.
"You two look like you could make a good couple," This caught Rainbow off guard, it was so off that she would say something like that, Neo and Dashie stared in surprise, Neo then cleared his throat.
"Um, Yes! We do, don't we?" Samneo said casually. Rainbow glared at him, sneering at his face.
4597243
It does work as a stand alone, but it works as well as a feed in chapter.
4597245
U-uhm.. I'll be honest right now, are you sugar coating...? Just asking, because I feel like I'm being lied to, it scares me, and what scares me even more, is that I'm afraid that it'll inspire me to not take criticism, It frightens me in a way where I feel like I'll end up like Amy's baking company in that one episode of Kitchen Nightmares.
An example of me being told that I had something great was without a doubt, Sam The Earth Pony chapter 1. It's not a good start, I was told by my sister that it was good back then, and I was almost in awe when I heard Penguin Lips' opinion on it.
4597259
I'm not sugar coating or lying. I'm straight up saying it works. Think of it like after dinner mints. I don't know why it works, all I know is that it works.
4597282
O___O
W-whaat...?
Okay, I'll accept that. Even my sister said that it was a start.
4597290
Watch the Shining Time Station Episode "Do I hear?" and you'll get my inspiration. I mean, many authors don't know why things they do work, they know that they work.
4597291
Watching it right now, I'm at 1:08, it's not much so far, but I think the kids are gonna get trapped on lockdown
4597295
Listen to Mr. Conductor's words before he tells the story of Mavis.
4597297
I'm at 2:02 and what the hell am I watching...?
Now before you say anything, I am a fan of Thomas The Tank Engine, but not as much compared to my childhood.
4597304
The kids are in the station when Stacy is gone and Mr. Conductor talks about there being good ideas without knowing why they work. I recommend listening to that.
4597304
3:02
Now this is insightful. This is getting bizarrely interesting... I can't pinpoint why I'm starting to think about this..
I get the brother part, so I wonder what'll happen next...
4597317
Yeah. I recommend it, as there are pieces of advice that can be gleamed.
4597323
4:01
Now this is creepy... I don't like this... But I'll keep watching
4597325
It should be a 2 parter, so there are 2 parts. It may creep some out, but the things said are things that our parents have said before.
4597329
You're right, just saw the mavis part, and now I'm at the part where the repair man opens up the jukebox
Now I'm at Part 2, is this where the message is in?
4597340
The first part, around the 4:55 mark. That's the part you want, before he launches into the story "Mavis".
4597345
You mean I have to go back to the first part?
I'm at 6:20 in the second part
4597354
Yeah. It's in the first part. However, if there is a good moral in Part 2, take that to heart as well.
4597359
Just finished part 2, I'll say more when I see it.
4597363
Go right ahead. I'm just trying to help.
4597363
Well.. that moral..
There's value in what you're told by someone who's just a little old, someone who's wise and sage, by virtue of age..
That it? Just asking
4597372
Before, it. That's after Mavis. Go to 4:55 in the episode and listen to him. Mr. Conductor should be saying "I thought Shining Time was closed today".
4597376
Oh yeah.. I caught that quote,
Sometimes rearranging the way things are meant can lead to trouble
4597378
Yeah. It's in there.
4597381
Oh I see, but I'll hear what you have to say just in case if I'm wrong
4597382
"Sometimes good reasons just appear"
Or as my grandfather said on his deathbed.
"Don't discount unknown moments of good ideas, you may never get them back."
4597383
Woah... that's deep...
4597388
Yeah. Keep that in mind. However, I'm one of those who can see a good idea for what it is.
4597392
I agree, I feel that my story might be up to readers to decide weather it's good or not, everything you said still leaves me in awe!
So much so that I actually need time to process all of this, but I think I'm registering it as I type this.
Just re-read your comments, and even whispered it to myself. This is really helpful thank you!
4597397
No problem.
4597400
So... now what?
4597402
I don't know.
4597404
Just keep writing? Maybe so. I can try my best once more!
And one last thing before I do some other things, and not use this for the night: Where do you think Samneo The Water Dragon is gonna go next? I would like to hear your predictions(If you have any)
4597406
Keep writing. As for predictions. he and Dash end up married, have a family and while she works with the Wonderbolts, He works with the Seaquesterians.
4597407
I haven't thought about that.. That's actually kind of interesting.. I would discuss where I'll take this story, but I don't want to pull a DC Batman v Superman and just set up the future instead of just making a good story.
However I will say is that; I'm thinking of a Trilogy, and if the series is good, then maybe I'll consider the idea of the two getting married, because right now, I don't really see it happening due to the situations that occur in later chapters.
You see, I've been writing before I gotten this account, I tried to publish a book called: SILVER, which never came through. So as far as the chapters of this story goes, I'm at Chapter 8, or as I dub; Episode 8, and so far I don't really see the two getting married, but I am open to the idea! Like your grampa said; don't discount unknown moments of good ideas, you may never get them back. So I'll keep that in mind. (I hope I didn't misunderstood the meaning)
I think I'll close off with your opinion on what I just said, (I can't do your words justice)
and then I'll close it off with a link to a mashup I found(You might know it since you're familiar with Thomas)
