Evening folks, how are ya all?
I realize I've been pretty quiet on this site lately. Most of my blogs have been update blogs, and they've really been minor ones at that. I've published a few chapters of Cyclosa, but that's one of my lesser viewed stories so I imagine the least likely to perturb anyone. And yet its the one i'm prioritizing cause I'm apparently dumb.
Anyways, the greater majority of you are probably following me for either Synthetic Bottled Sunlight or Awful Lot of Coffee, those being my two most popular stories. Both of these stories haven't been updating in a while, and I really should explain to everyone upright what's going on more often. Really wish I was better at that, and any suggestions would help.
For Awful Lot of Coffee, I haven't been writing simply because I'm having increasing difficulties coming up with good ideas. Every one I get usually gets shut down into the writing process, since I employ a sort of 'stream of consciousness, complete uncharted improvise writing' style for every chapter. I honestly think the only chapter I had fully mapped out was the pilot one and maybe the short Flurry Heart one??? Honestly hard to remember.
The last three or four chapters were all ones I'd already convinced to myself were shitty, and had to force myself to publish. The reception to them have been warm and I really appreciate it, but it's kinda left me bewildered as to where my self-critiques lie. The fact that what was once my pallet-cleanser story is now the most watched has created a strange dichotomy.
Hotels of Equestria has been suffering from a similar problem, although I am of the opinion it is of a higher quality compared to Awful Lot of Coffee.
For SBS, it's the complete opposite. I have a good plan of where everything wants to go and it's the work I feel is more significant, but everytime I write I feel like it's inferior to what is expected of it. I've written and deleted the chapter, like, 3 full times at this point.
To make matters worse, I've been focusing most of my efforts on another project which I published yesterday. It's the project I've been most inspired writing and am most proud of, although it's all OC Historical Fiction / horror so I'd bet it's a turnoff to most.
Basically, it explores in detail the Crystal Empire and the lives of the Crystal Ponies during Sombra's rule over them, and an unlikely group of Crystal Ponies who attempt to swing history into their favour and against tyranny.

Anyways, just thought I'd let each respective story-fan base get an idea of where I stand. I'm going to try and figure out how to go forwards, and suggestions would be welcomed.

I wasn't totally sold on her design at first, but most of the great fanart we've gotten has flipped me to liking it! She has unique motives from Nightmare Moon as well, which I appreciate. It woulda been easy for them to make her a simple palette swap and I respect them not going that route.
