The Perfect Pear - Review · 5:55pm Jun 21st, 2017
Oh my gosh, I literally feel like I'm about to cry.
No fluffy intro this time, but if you want to learn my thoughts on possibly the best episode of the series so far, click below.
This episode... good gosh, this episode.
This is far and away the most romantic and serious episode ever written for the show. There's no silly humor, no shenanigans, no nonsense. Just a romantic tale about how the Apple's parents met and fell in love, despite overwhelming difficulty.
This episode doesn't have a direct friendship lesson per say, but it does teach a valuable life lesson about love, hate and how our biases can affect those most important to us.
The writing is on key. Every bit of dialogue seemed to perfectly match the story, nothing extra, nothing held back... Just enough to keep the story moving and engrossing. It was utterly beautiful.
The feels were strong in this one. I don't get overly emotional with entertainment, but I almost wanted to cry after watching this. The story of how they met, fell in love... how they fought against all the odds and the obvious looks of sadness on their children's faces throughout. It was all just so emotional. Having lost my father at an early age, one line by Big Mac in particular where he wanted to return to an old family friend to learn more about his dad... that spoke to me.
Anyway, I won't spoil much else, but if you were looking for an episode to watch after ignoring the show for a time, or if you just want something that's a fresh callback to season 1 levels of storytelling... Look no further.
Watch The Perfect Pear.
Yeah. I felt the same when I watched it this morning. A very good story.
I really enjoyed the episode. I love learning about the Apple family.
Any body else notice the Sam Elliot Pony?
And by that I mean Burnt Oak.
But S1 is objective garbage...

I can respect that opinion, but I loved a lot of the timeless messages in it. Not to mention, At The Gala is one of my fave songs from the entire series.
Screw that, man, I did cry. No liquid pride joke this time.
You're on point with this one. No nonsense, no jokes, just a beautiful story. The only thing that throws me off is the fact that if there's a fairly sizable age gap between Big Mac and Apple Bloom, I'd think at least he would know a little bit about their parents, but that opens up the whole 'AJ is actually Apple Bloom's mother' theory, and I really don't want to cause a ruckus with that.

It's just not as strong as post-Faust.
I absolutely loved this episode so much.
Nowhere near as much as they loved each other, though.
Just saw the episode.
Damn the feels
