So several years ago I was asked who would voice Tydal should he ever appear in the show. My original choice, which was never mentioned, was David Keith, the voice of Beast Wars Megatron and the voice actor I chose for a character I created that was similar to Tydal, the War God Genonisis. But, after a few fans made a suggestion and seeing a chance to do a Saints Row joke, I officially announced that Tydal would be voiced by Keith David, the voice of the Shadow Man from The Princess and the Frog and Goliath from Gargoyles.
But... the thing is that this isn't Tydal's voice. Not really. I've had one voice in mind whenever I write Tydal for the last few years but because I said Keith David I stuck with it. But yesterday I received a request for someone who is interested in doing a audio play of The God Squad and wanted to know what Tydal, Mary Sue, and Wall Breaker sound like. And while I could have gone with Keith David I decided to be honest.
And this has led me to the decision that, at the end of the current arc of the God Squad, Tydal's voice will change (as explained in-story) and he will have his new voice actor from now on. For those who like imagining Tydal with the Keith David voice you can continue to do so... but from now on Tydal will be voiced by who I hear when I write him:
Manu Bennett, aka Deathstroke the Terminator.
When I first heard Bennett's take on Slade I loved it but it was one line that cemented him as Tydal's voice. At one point Oliver asks him, during a dire situation, if he has a plan. And Slade snaps:
Slade: I do have one idea. If you go into the forest and gather as much bamboo as you can find...
Oliver: Yeah?
Slade: We can build ourselves a boat, like they did on Gilligan's Island!
Just the biting, sarcastic, "You are annoying me so this is your one chance to stop it before I beat you" tone screamed "Tydal talking to Shining Armor". Since then I have always written Tydal as if Manu Bennett was doing his voice. Furthermore, his time on Sparticus fits as well, as the capricorns were modeled after the Spartans. And they just feel like they could be kiwis, don't they?
As I said, the end of the Search for Tydal Arc will explain how Tydal ends up suddenly talking like this, even if it is just for fans who get really into the story.

Can't say I have noticed this actor before. But I don't watch enough media in english anyways.
Speaking of voice casting and Deathstroke; I would like to listen to an audio adaptation with all the characters (and narrator) being played by Ron Perlman.
