S7E11: "Not Asking for Trouble" · 11:28pm May 21st, 2017
That was... well, it passed the time, I guess. I liked it more than "Party Pooped", but that's not saying much. I'm just not a big fan of the yaks, and this didn't really make me change my mind. Besides, it was basically "Appleyak Season", but without even a quick callback -- despite the relevant pony being in the episode. I suspect my opinion of this one may be harmed by the fact that it came after the brilliance of episode 10, but I don't think I'm ever going to love it. A highish two, in other words solidly okay. ★★
I found it kinda... "meh."
Never liked the yaks, still don't. Though I do like how much world-building has been done since Season 6.
4542022 Yeah, I think it's going to take something quite impressive to push the yaks up most people's "favourite side characters" list.
Yeah, the Yaks aren't something to get particularly excited about.
However, I think Pinkie really shone in this episode. She's not always written well (Rock Solid Friendship), but when she is, she's a joy to watch
. And this did actually remind me of It Doesn't Matter Now.
4542457 I'm feeling a little kinder to this episode having looked at it again, and Pinkie is the main reason. I think she's written quite well here, certainly better than sometimes. And I guess I'll take having my writing linked with a pro writer's episode!
