That was a sort of important chapter here's notes over current chapter · 2:20am May 14th, 2017
Chapter 4 of the story makes it so yes its not just demons, humans, and vampires here in the story. And no I had planned this since literally chapter 2- with Rainbow Dash being mad that Mr Doodle assigned Edward Spenser's Fairie Queen poem.
I also remember deftly how I had a whole other beginning scene of Chapter 1 where Rainbow and Fluttershy were trying on dresses and jewelry for the coming Fall Formal (where Rainbow Dash would have an adverse reaction to iron in jewelry- Iron being one of those things that fairies really don't like. And I don't want to pull a Percy Jackson in that Rainbow Dash is bad at school because she's a fairy but mischievous beings that like dancing and drinking cream and holding Court(s) in a magical fantasyland when compared to the school system of today.
Yeah maybe she's a tad unfocused or bored.
I may have seven full pages of character relationships in the school and surrounding area. I also have six full story ideas open with six different monster focuses. I have the human side. Its maybe a tad unfocused at times because I'm trying to make a story universe that literally makes a ton of sense in my head and notes into a written form.
And no I don't have an editor. I kind of used to. We fell out. And well they were the only person I didn't unfortunately feel off with.
So I'm back to being writer, storyboarder, and editor and I think it overall works fine.
But yeah back to the story- Canterlot in the Human world always felt like it was on the East Coast in some way- thereby having a old core to have a magical connection in the canon world and be overall blase about magical shenanigans in the world as seen in the movies.
Also that's why I thought the Accords of 1692 was a good history joke- 1692 in the American Colonies was the Salem Witch Trials- it would make sense magical creatures fleeing Europe would cross their fingers and hope America wasn't a mess for persecution of magical creatures and lives. The Witch Trials made the leaders want to have a secretive society that tries to be as quiet as possible.
They seem a bit rough in the present because of video records and phones and all these surveillance methods that every magical creature looks blurry on.
But where is the Seelie Court in the world since that ending introduced that fun? Well the Fairy Realm/ Burning World/ Shangri La, etc. is a pocket dimension that is connected by leylines and fairy rings to the realms of both the Seelie and Unseelie Courts (the mischievous prankster sort of distant "nice" fairies and the malevolent violent deadly pranksters "bad" fairy courts.)
Cadance is the leader of the Seelie Court, the most open to human contact. I mean she is the Crystal Prep VP. Celestia actually likes her as a person when compared to the rest of the Crystal Prep people because Cadance did not support humiliating Canterlot High during the Friendship Games.
Though what do the fairies call the land of fairy in this story? Well I'm running with the idea that they call it Avalon.
Yes the King Arthurian legend land of Avalon and no this is not Glastonbury Abbey. In my deep dive into Arthurian legend (since I have some weird love of medieval romance and poetry) I read in a source that King Arthur was crowned by a fairy court in some stories and that after his fight with Mordred on his deathbed he was sent to the land of Avalon to heal? or something by sailing to the west.
Well what is the West of Britain? Well a lot but the Americas sure are a big area.
Another fun story of fairies before I go- there's a tale where fairies are fallen angels that were not in the realm of hell when God shut the gates of Heaven after the fall. So some cultures believed that fairies as angels that were not bad enough for Hell and not good enough for Heaven stayed on Earth and became fairies- and the fairies pay a tithe to demons because of them being kind of under the purview of Hell.
Legends, superstitions, and myths sure are fun.
