Chapter 9 of "The Expansive Romance of Applebloom and Coral Leaf" is now up! · 5:00pm May 12th, 2017
Phew! Got that up before my 4-day weekend started!
The month of April is kind of a strange month for me. I was telling my Dad on the phone a few weeks ago, that it's felt that way since I was a teen, and I think it has to do with April being that 'transitional' month, between Winter and Spring.
I sat on Chapter 9 almost all month. Recently, it was in conversations with AppleorPie, and seeing a few scant comments here-and-there about the story, that made me slowly rise from my chair, and get back to work.
Just like riding a bicycle, finishing up Chapter 9 soon proved to flow smoothly, and led me into Chapter 10...which...all I can say for now is, 'whoa.'
I think the current 'political climate' is bleeding into some of my stories. I was telling a co-worker that some of my feelings and what is happening to our country right now, feels like it's somehow being reflected in some characters and situations...though don't worry, I don't mention 'the T-word,' or anything in our world...but the feelings definitely seem to be there.
I'm also considering a few more expansion-based stories, though they are largely still 'ideas,' until I can find an emotional hook and investment, to deem it time to be 'off to the races' and get those other stories going. I often say that's one reason why I would be a terrible 'work-for-hire' storyteller in some cases: I have to 'feel' the story, and ask myself, "is this something that I would want to read?"
It's a similar philosophy that PIXAR used, and that I adapted. They would often ask themselves, "is this a film that I would want to see?"
Well, got to get packing, and anticipate a few more downvotes and 'WTF' comments that will surely be on the way for Chapter 9.
