Believe it or not, I actually got some chores done today.

And that's saying something, because if Diablo IV was this good at any point last year, it would have definitely been near the top of my Best Games of 2023. You know, instead of being omitted entirely.

So let's just say that Armored Core VI absolutely just got smacked out of the running for Best Yesteryear Game.

    Updates and Such

Well, as a thunderstorm rolls overhead (and hopefully doesn't knock power out), I thought I'd offer some updates on what I've been up to.

Long story short, I'm pretty much in gaming overload at the moment.

So it turns out I was wrong about my PC's power supply. It can take a GPU upgrade.

So Friday's overtime check turned into this:

35 minutes and one heart attack later, it's in, and quite a beautiful sight.

So what was the heart attack? The preceding 970 wouldn't come out. No matter which way I pulled it wouldn't budge after I had removed all the screws and released the retention tab. It finally came out with a good yank, and my heart dropped when the retention tab came with it. I was absolutely certain that it had been released, having checked it dozens of times in the removal attempts.

Luckily I didn't break it, and it snapped back into place on the motherboard.

And dear sweet Celestia...

Doom maxed. 200 fps.
Witcher 3 maxed. Rock solid 60 fps.
No Man's Sky maxed. Variable fps.
Titanfall 2 maxed. 144 fps.

Suffice to say, building a rig from scratch can probably wait a bit longer now. I'm more than good for the time being.

Yeah your PSU is not the greatest Corsair one, but could easily power 2 1080's FYI (be pushing it but is possible). I have two of the AMP Extremes on a AX760W. Enjoy your frames.

4528938 I was just saying that your PSU can handle a lot more then you think if you thought you needed a new one to get a new GPU is all. A 970 to 1080 is a nice jump.

4528977 Yeah right now, I'm wondering if I could put the 970 back in and use it for encoding OBS recording. Not sure if that'll work.

4529010 Should be able to put it in and tell nvidia to use it as physics if you wanted so if OBS can see it then it should work. Don't have a 4 core cpu?

4529012 Yeah I have an i5 4670 in here.

4529021 Ah, I don't know much about OBS but if it will let you cuda encode that would be sweet.

I'm a ittsy bittsy jealous of the Graphics card.
But well, Vega will come.:moustache:

4530634 I'm really hoping AMD does the same thing with Vega that they did with Ryzen. Stiff competition means better things no matter if you're on Team Red or Green.
