    Chapter 56 Promo!

In an isolated, abnormally large, hollowed-out tree might not be the typical abode for megalomaniacal n'ere-do-wells. Though, there was a reason both of them had opted for current accommodations over the typical kingdoms and castles, in one form or another. The area was absolutely inundated with dark magic. From the eerie glow that some of the plants gave off, to traces of black aerenth crystals

The Bridge / Dinosapien Q/A Quickie! · 8:08pm May 9th, 2017

Feel free to drop your questions below!

Q: Does EG:D take place in Camp Everfree?
A: No. EG:D's setting is Lost Land Island and it's campground. The references to Everfree were because it's the big camp on the mainland and there was a lot of notice given to the damage that occurred in the aftermath of Aria and X's battle against Enjin, especially the wrecked bridge and huge handprint in the cliff's stone. No one knew what caused it since no one witnessed the battle so there would logically be a lot of speculation as to what happened.

Q: Are the dinosaurs in EG:D dimension hoppers like the kaiju? Why aren't they turned into humans?
A: They're not. They might not exactly be "from around there", but they are native to the Equestrian realms. Also they didn't go through the statue portal for obvious reasons.

Q: Are Maia, Sandalwood, and Sunflower OCs?
A: Maia is but the other two aren't. Maia is a fan child Faithy came up with, Sandalwood is a re-occuring EG character who just doesn't get name-dropped much; and Sunflower (Orange) is an EG character from the IDW comics whose been referenced in the show when Babs Seed talks about her having a big sister. While it's never been outright confirmed Sunflower and Babs are Aunt and Uncle Orange's kids, it's been heavily implied and Babs has been seen with Aunt Orange a few times; so I just went with it.

Q: Is Season 5 going to change due to Starlight showing up early and Grand King Ghidorah meddling with Our Town?
A: Shifts are bound to happen. Not the first time this has happened though, as remember "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep" has been effectively derailed due to Luna working past her guilt quicker. This isn't me hating on those sort of things, I rather liked that episode and I'm not a Starlight-hater; it's just part of the nature given the entry of the kaiju.

Q: What exactly did King Ghidorah do to Starlight Glimmer?
A: He planted a subconscious ploy in her mind and altered some of her behavior, in a minor version of mind control or "brain washing". In other words, he gave her an objective but buried it within her subconscious to the effect she thinks it's her's and won't question it.

Q: Is the gumiho really dead?
A: Yep, cremated.

Q: In light of the recent episode, are Rainbow Dash's parents getting retconned?
A: Nope, Radiance is here to stay as I just love the character and her being a fun retooling of G3's RD. The father is canonized though. Though as an additional note, the "Rainbow Blaze" character we saw in a flashback with young Rainbow is her paternal uncle given he's not the same character as her father but looks very similar; so Blaze is the younger brother.

Other than wanting to know if the Mako chapter will be longer due to chapter 37 focusing more on the Gumiho (due to the April Fools chaoter saying that it occurred after CH37, I thought the Mako incident would have appeared along with the Gumiho arc), I want to ask something. Would Xenilla and the other Kaiju will appear again after Junior returns from Mako and his investigation of GKG? Also, how you think the other five Kaiju will react when they learn that Anguirus hooked up with Ki Seong? Finally, who were the ones who participated/made the bet about Anguirus and Ki Seong?

Okay, have a few:

1) Does a human version of Jeog exist?

2) Are Mirror Bagan/Reijuu and Prime Bagan aware of one another's existence?

3) What is Jeog's mirror counterpart like given her morality isn't straight up 'good and evil'?

4) Do Eno and the other Dinosapiens have Equestrian counterparts?

What is it that has prevented KG from using the subconscious ploy ability on other Kaiju in the past while he readily put it to use on a Unicorn?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer already, but I'll ask anyway:

Will the damage mentioned in Camp Everfree in Dinosapian (which occurred in The Bridge when Engin battled X) prevent (or at least seriously derail) the events of the fourth EG movie? The comments make it seem the camp has closed at least temporarily due to the broken bridge and odd shaped impressions (footprints). Add In a landslide plus (possibly) an insurance payment, and Filthy Ritch may well be either paid off or more willing to allow an extension (landslides tend to reduce the value of land a fair amount, after all.) Alternatively, since the area was described as a state park before the movie came out, it could be that state funds could be made available to help the camp, but not before the lone comes due. Either way, with the camp closed due to damage, the events of the Secret of Everfree cannot occur as they did in cannon.

Alright since we talked about this before, how are the odds of a Tia vs. GKG fight happening look?

Hmm who can we expect to be the cast in the Ghidorah arc?

Are we gonna check up on Lea?

And finally, is the Eclipse Times finale our next upload?

4526382 its most likely similar to the Jedi Mind Trick, those with weak minds or will are easy for Ghidorah to control, but for those that are stronger not so much (that and he might figured Bagan would find out in an instant so he wouldn't dare take that chance in a God's house)

Will Celestia ever fight King Ghidorah one on one or with Luna by her side cause I would like people to see how truly strong a Kaiju like Ghidorah is that it will take more then the two Top Princesses to take the King of Terror down

4526382
Best guess? Innate levels of power likely grant similar levels of protection, which can be at least partially bypassed in certain circumstances. In other words, most Kaiju are simply too powerful to control, plus he struck while Starlight was disoriented by the feedback from casting her spell on GKG. The only other time he used this power it was to target Lora in order to indirectly weaken Lea. For most beings, there is little point in his bothering, as there are easier ways of collecting his food. For most Kaiju, the results are likely too unreliable or require far more time and effort then killing them directly.

Plus, in this timeline, GKG has mostly faced off against Kaiju with some degree of telepathic ability, which in turn implies a greater degree of resistance plus someone nearby to counteract his effects. No point spending a several seconds putting Junior under if Lea can snap him out in a half second or less, and no point spending several minutes battering through Lea's defenses while trying to avoid Junior's Nuclear Heat Ray....

How do Gumiho reproduce? If they can't understand love how do they come into being?

4526546 That's what i like to know, i think Ghidorah is one of the few Kaiju characters that could stand up to Celestia one-on-one.

4526651 Hmm that seems true given that the G Wiki stated that Ghidorah's telepathy was weak.

4526659 They probably just procreate like regular animals do. You don't need love for that.

4526659
4526731
While Love is key to forming relationships, and is highly desirable for social species like Humans and Equestrian Ponies, it has little or nothing to do with the actual reproductive act. A larger obstacle would be the fact that they are a single gender species. For that, I suspect they can either mate successfully with normal foxes or have some form of self-fertilization not present in known real world vertebrates.

Since many commonly acknowledged examples of loveless sex hedge into NSFW territory, I will refrain from listing examples beyond the drunken one night stand. I can easily think of others. I shall not bother to mention more, but I would point out that understanding love has no impact on feeling lust.

4526763

I know this, my argument is that even though it's not a true sapient, it clearly can form cohesive sentences/thoughs and feel emotions. Unless it has some innate desire to mate in order to preserve the continuity of its species, I am curious how they come into being

4526763 Oh, I forgot they were a single gender species.

4526781
I'd honestly argue against the whole "not sapient" thing. Just because a being doesn't understand emotions on a conventional level, that hardly counts as not being sapient. Being able to recognize the value of one's own existence and form and express thoughts concerning that existence more or less qualifies the being as sapient.

Being a spiritual entity, their reproductive methods might have little to do with the physical act of sex. There could be an entirely separate, magical source that either transforms another entity into a gumiho, or simply creates them from a wellspring of sorts. They may well form naturally on some spiritual plane and only enter the mortal realm through some unknown means. Even the real world myths concerning them are pretty vague on these points.

4526853 I thought Sapient meant having human level intelligence while Sentient was the ability to feel?

4526869
The definition of sapient is kind of hard to pin down, if one is trying to go by the dry, dictionary definition of the term. Part of the problem is that the concept of sapience is kind of a philosophical idea more than a scientifically measurable one.

4526659 They are most likely some kind of supernatural creature, thus suspending many of the requirements of life for normal animals. I suppose this is one of those times where you can imagine some creative means that spawns a Gumiho, like a vile pit that serves as a portal to a demonic realm, or an act committed that transforms someone, like murdering a loved one.

4526997
Personally I'm a fan of the notion that the spawn on some spiritual plane linked to the mortal world, and are either brought there by rare events or specifically summoned through arcane ritual. That or there's actual uncommon physical locations in the world where the border between realms is weak enough for certain entities to just slip through on rare occasion.

Of course my bias in this regard is just because I like the idea that the destruction of their physical form just banishes them back to their home plane, and that it may well only be a temporary banishment (lasting a century or two, not so long for a spirit entity). And I only like this idea because I'm tickled by the notion of some future descendant of Ki Seong's and Anguris' having to deal with the same gumiho.

4526781
4526853
I know relatively little about eastern mythology, but I seem to recall once reading that the Kitsune from Japan starts out as a normal fox that lives long enough to grow an extra tail, with new tails coming in once per century. It's entirely likely the Gumiho does something similar. However, don't quote me on that. For all I know, these Fox Spirits are literally just that; the ghosts (spirits) of particularly wily foxes...

4527013
That's one of the cooler aspects about them, the fact that there's so little solid lore about them, so it leaves the door wide open for a host of musings and theories, which in turns leads to further storytelling potential. Not to at all take away form what Tarb's already done, but when I look at the gumiho, I don't see a closed door on a done tale, but a spark that leads to a dozen different ideas to write about and expand upon.

I know this is a curiosity poll, what I need to say a word of caution. As I've told you before, it's not a matter of I not wanting it. I doubt any wouldnt want it. It's a matter of I would have extreme issues working it into the plot just willy nilly. I have planned big fights for both of those two, I just can't fit it in together with how the layout is, it could derail the plot if I just threw it in. These aren't relatively small-scale characters, so I need to justify it happening and have a fall out of it occuring. I'm just saying this in case your poll gets a bunch of hits and people start demanding it like they already have.

4527290 Ok, I knew the only problem was timing so i was asking earlier how the odds were looking.

So I'll respect your wishes and removed the poll.

Hmm i know you mentioned considering a psychic one so maybe it could center around Starlight?

Anyway, I just want at least one scene of interaction between them.

I remember in the Godzilla Atari trilogy game series, Ghidorah had this odd ability where he shot himself with Graviton beams and it...healed him for some reason?

What would your explanation for that be? I personally think it's the equivalent of self surgery or cauterizing wounds.

4526663 more like superior to her, each in their true forms Godzilla, Xenilla, Destroyah and X can already go toe to toe with Celestia (at least in the Bridge Canon, in other media they are also Superior to her but I'll focus on the Bridge Canon right now) while Godzilla himself needed help from Mothra to take on Ghidorah, so if its a one on one fight the King of Terror has the advantage in the huge Power Gap

4528628 We're talking Ponified strength, while Ghidorah might be stronger than Celestia's normal state one-on-one, she still has SSJ and power boost she receives from Luna so don't underestimate our beloved Solar Tyran-*cough cough* Princess. :trollestia:

4528632 even with a Super Saiyan like transformation, King Ghidorah still stomps, it would be a better fight if Celestia had Luna by her side with their Sisterly Power Boost, but even with that they would still fall, it would take the Rainbow Power (at least in Bridge Canon), Armored Mothra, Kaiser Ghidorah, Hell even a Burning Godzilla JR or actual Gods (like Harmony, Grogar and especially Bagan) to take him down

4528724 Tarb has taken great pains to balance the crossover and to have KG curbstomp Celestia(who is the strongest equestrian hero aside from Harmony herself) one-on-one even Ponified would go against that, just like the whole Bagan/Harmony/Grogar fiasco which no-one wants a repeat of.

Besides going by your logic, then Junior should've won his fight with Luna easily but he didn't, and it doesn't lessen his status as a badass because of it.

4528727 Godzilla was Ponified so he was not at full strength, that and Luna only won against him with a sucker hoof while he got distracted by his Sixth Sense, if he was in his true form when he faught Luna she would've got wrecked(not killed wrecked JR is not a Psychopath) with leaving only Celestia at her Best powerful enough to fight him equally(just as long as they relocate so they wont destroy Canterlot accidentally) if Ghidorah was also Ponified Celestia would stand a chance on her own when she's at her best and yes it would be a curb stomp if Luna joins, but as a Kaiju they won't stand a chance

4528746 You should've clarified your point, which was somewhat reasonable but at this point, I've lost interest in the argument.

Tarb, you said Ghidorah has no combat skill but doesn't he gain the knowledge of those he consumes?

Considering how many planets he probably raided, he must've gotten a few soldiers so he would obtain indirect training?

What I'm saying is Ghidorah is like Perfect Cell, where he never received direct combat training but he has the knowledge of those who did.

4528888

Ghidorah is not Cell (whose method for "learning moves through cells" is bullshit anyways for anyone with a basic understanding of how memories work). I never said he could gain experience/understanding of who he consumes nor does the canon. He can not do that.

Even if he can access the memories of his victims, there's a difference between seeing it and experiencing it. Just because you watch a ton of martial arts movies doesn't make you one. There is a big difference between knowledge of and understanding of. Why would he bother with keeping the memories of some random soul belonging to a soldier or warrior when they are among billions? What worth would they have if they died anyways?

4529398 Finally, an answer in this Q/A.

Anyway, i was wondering because of an old response you had to a question in Chapter 23 on how Ghidorah knew the Hydra myth.

Though I still have the earlier question on what would your personal explanation be about how Ghidorah can apparently heal himself with his Graviton beams in the Video Games.

4529401
If you feel like being rude, why should I bother responding? I've been weighed down with PMs to answer and work to do. Have some consideration please.

The videogame ability seems to just be using energy to heal up wounds, which is probably just him using his power to briefly accelerate his regeneration.

4526353

3) What is Jeog's mirror counterpart like given her morality isn't straight up 'good and evil'?
4) Do Eno and the other Dinosapiens have Equestrian counterparts?

1. Probably
2. No, they don't even know mirror worlds are a thing.
3. Neutral as well, just not homicidal.
4. Probably not. But if they did they wouldn't be any individual we met because they'd not be significant.

4526278

Would Xenilla and the other Kaiju will appear again after Junior returns from Mako and his investigation of GKG?

I sadly can't give spoilers to this story arc, but we will be seeing kaiju besides Junior in it, yes.

4526410

Will the damage mentioned in Camp Everfree in Dinosapian (which occurred in The Bridge when Engin battled X) prevent (or at least seriously derail) the events of the fourth EG movie?

It might alter it and realistically any of the scenarios you mentioned might occur. However I have a feeling the fourth film as a whole will still occur, different cast or newcomers withstanding. The campground is in a private section of the Everfree, with the State Park being the larger federally owned sector. Everfree is the name of the regional biome, not just the park or camp.

4526476

Hmm who can we expect to be the cast in the Ghidorah arc?
Are we gonna check up on Lea?
And finally, is the Eclipse Times finale our next upload?

1. Spoilers. And characters we've seen so far like the Glimmer sisters, Junior, and Ghidorah himself are included.
2. Soon.
3. Dinosapien part 2 is already done, then eclipse time. But it probably won't be the finale.

4526382

What is it that has prevented KG from using the subconscious ploy ability on other Kaiju in the past while he readily put it to use on a Unicorn?

Stronger will and mental state. Starlight's got a damaged mind and she was already vulnerable to it. Mental attacks aren't something Ghidorah can pull off in the middle of a heated battle with another kaiju, takes too much focus.

4526659

How do Gumiho reproduce? If they can't understand love how do they come into being?

Love isn't needed for reproduction. And given the gumiho's body is composed of some type of bone surrounded by solidified fox fire, I wouldn't say they have a normal birthing process. They're more like beings of living magic.

4529409 Sorry, i didn't mean it like that, honest.(I'll admit to being impulsive to a fault and what i meant was i was a bit happy and eager at your arrival)

Though one would think the PMs would tone down now that there's a Q/A?

One final Ghidorah question, can we expect Junior's weight in Ham from him?

4529409

And given the gumiho's body is composed of some type of bone surrounded by solidified fox fire, I wouldn't say they have a normal birthing process. They're more like beings of living magic.

So, a gumiho is, in essence, closer to a smarter version of a timberwolf then a living fox? More an artifact of magic that thinks it's alive then a true living being?

...I can get behind that. (Preferably with a flamethrower and a leaf blower rigged to launch a cloud of iron filings....)

4529398

Ghidorah is not Cell (whose method for "learning moves through cells" is bullshit anyways for anyone with a basic understanding of how memories work).

Eh, it's anime science. You know, the kind of science that does whatever you need it to.

Shifts are bound to happen.

Well, when giant monsters in pony form show up, it tends to throw things out of whack. Anyway, just some personal feelings here, I felt that if DPDMS would have been a better episode if had happened earlier in the shows running. Again, my thoughts on the episode are it was a good idea that was handled poorly, but I'm not going to act like that set up couldn't work. But, with Godzilla showing Luna that she's not the only one who has to live with her failures, she learned the lesson she learned in that episode much earlier. Unlike some people who think that the only way to handle some one with a severe guilt complex or depression is to "drag them to a psychiatrist kicking and screaming." (Sorry, I just really don't like that person). Sorry that this became a bit of a rant, but I just want to reiterate that throwing giant monsters into this setting is bound to change some things.

Nope, Radiance is here to stay as I just love the character and her being a fun retooling of G3's RD. The father is canonized though. Though as an additional note, the "Rainbow Blaze" character we saw in a flashback with young Rainbow is her paternal uncle given he's not the same character as her father but looks very similar; so Blaze is the younger brother.

That, and your entire reader base would be on your lawn like the villagers in a Frankenstein picture if you retconned mama dash.

Will we see Blade Dancer acting scared in front of Xenilla the moment a huge spider appears? It'd be fun to see her act scared against the guy she's crushing on and for him to see a side of her besides the teasing romantic that isn't afraid of punching his face. Specially, since according to her bio BD has other skills, such as high tolerance of alcohol and superb dancing skills, that she hasn't shown off to Xenilla yet.

4529599
My own theory is that the living fire can simulate flesh, and even the physical traits of flesh. Its sort of like a spiritual being that copies the structure of mortal beings when its in the mortal realm. Its entirely possible that the more it learns about mortals the more its body can accurately simulate mortals as well. Again I go back to the legends of gumiho being able to fully transform into mortal humans under the right conditions, and it leaves me thinking that they can more or less, over time spent in the mortal world become gradually more physical and less spiritual the more time they spend around mortals.

Where's Rodan ATM with the airshow having concluded?
