Scootaloo: Ya know, some ponies would dream of having parents like that.
Rainbow Dash: Yeah, right! Name one!
Scootaloo: [sighs] Me. Growing up, I never thought I'd be the best at anything, because nopony ever told me. But your parents told you over and over again.

And the award for the most depressing character in MLP is: Scootaloo!!!
Joking aside, these lines gives us a little more context about her character than in previous seasons. Which is sad. Does this mean that she is an orphan after all? No, not really. It might just mean that Scootaloo never had very supportive parents, and that in of itself is depressing.

On a lighter note, I absolutely loved this episode! Rainbow’s parents were fun to watch (even though were a bit overbearing), the flashback’s and cameos were interesting to see, and while Rainbow Dash was peeved by her parents cheering, it did lead her into becoming the mare we know her today.
However, the real highlight of this episode was Scootaloo and the message.
When the episode began I had absolutely no idea the CMC would make their appearance, let alone be the main role. From squeeing like a fangirl, to being angry at her hero, Scootaloo does more for this episode than in some previous entries in the series.
And her dialogue with Rainbow Dash, as seen above, is one of the few moments we hear about her past and backstory… something the writers never did in the first few seasons.
On a minor note, it’s also nice to see the Wonderbolts helping Dash with her apology at the end. Though they should probably invest in some security.
I loved this episode a lot, and for now takes All Bottled Up’s place as my favorite episode of the season thus far! 9/10 Great
