    FF7 Remake

Exploring the slums in Midgar is an amazing videogame experience. In most RPGs I expect an urban setting to be mostly empty with a few generic, token NPCs standing around. Walking down the street in this game, there are people everywhere. They’re all wearing different clothes, different faces, working at different tasks that actually make sense in this context. They’re also chatting to one

    The View Over Atlantis

I'm having some really conflicted feelings about The View Over Atlantis. I'm just about to wrap up what I think of as "Book One" of the story. After that, there should be a change in setting and tone as we get into the next phase, or the next book.

    Samurai Jack

If any of you haven't been following the revived Samurai Jack series, what the heck is wrong with you? Go watch it! It's amazing.

Last night the third episode of the new season aired, and the leader of the Daughters of Aku, Ashi, is voiced by. . . Tara Strong??

    The Anonymous HiE

The Anonymous HiE is the man with no name: that part of us with no identity other than itself, that which is not seen in the world, always in the distance — hidden, somewhere behind.

He exists as himself, for himself, without attachment to conventional morality.

He is not here to save the ponies of Equestria, or to progress their society.

    He has a different agenda.

All the Colours of the Dark

Isn't it great when you stumble on a piece of music that dovetails perfectly with your story? I tend to picture scenes in an almost cinematic way, and every good movie needs a soundtrack. When I was writing Black Angel, I was lucky to find a couple of tracks that I felt were worth references in the story itself. And just in case any of your forgot. . .

The View Over Atlantis · 2:20pm Apr 27th, 2017

I'm having some really conflicted feelings about The View Over Atlantis. I'm just about to wrap up what I think of as "Book One" of the story. After that, there should be a change in setting and tone as we get into the next phase, or the next book.

I have an outline for the entire story and know how it ends (I actually have a draft of the ending), and yet we're no more than 1/3 into the tale, if that. All the real excitement (yes, there will be action) is still ahead. I've got to say the reaction so far has been pretty discouraging, though. Closing in on 50,000 words, I'm sitting here with a whopping 24 likes and 14 dislikes. Clearly it hasn't set the world on fire. Even if I complete it and do everything I've planned, will anyone know or care?

And I'm pondering what went wrong. Too slow updates? I'm ashamed of that, but I'm hardly the only writer here that makes slow progress.

Are people just turning away because it's TCB, and everybody hates TCB now? I've seen a lot of very popular and successful stories that are TCB in all but name, like Project Sunflower, or Pandemic. It seems to be the TCB label itself that is feared and loathed, more than the concept.

Has the action been too slow in coming, and everybody's lost interest in all this slice-of-life stuff?

Is the whole concept just too eccentric, and nobody knows what to make of it? (Hard to believe, considering a lot of other fics I've seen!)

All of the above?

I dunno. What I do know is that after I finish the next chapter or two, and get to the planned stopping point of Book One, this story will go on hiatus for a while. I want to go back and finish the Minty story (after all these years, and it's still a favorite of mine!) and then carefully consider whether I want to continue with Atlantis at all, or work on something with broader appeal.

You can add "no mane 6" to that list for sure. Not enough Trixe love in fandom ;) /joking

What?!? TRIXIE IS BEST PONY!! (Or possibly second best. Because Luna. But they're both right up there.)

I was so ticked off when instead of bringing in Trixie to join the regular cast, instead they got Starshine Whatsername, homely generic unicorn.

I would sure miss it if it was not presented at Short Story Night. Not that I am any authority, as I cried reading The Last Parade.
One argument I would like to see. Luna: Tia, you made me a Boogeypony? I am supposed to collect candy? What For? What am I supposed to do with that Much?
