To all who followed me from: "THIS IS AN OPEN TRADE-FOR-TRADE STORY COMMENT REQUEST/IDEA DISCUSSION", my site-wide aplogy · 2:58pm Apr 24th, 2017
Hello everyone. As you can probably tell by the title, this is an apology post.
On April 23rd, 2017, at 11:30PM local time, I created the following titled thread:
THIS IS AN OPEN TRADE-FOR-TRADE STORY COMMENT REQUEST/IDEA DISCUSSION
across these diffrent groups:
The Shameless Self-Promotion Bureau
The Writer’s Group
School for New Writer’s
The Proofreader Group
Struggling Authors
I Just Want A Comment
Not intending too, and not realizing it at the time, I actually broke multiple site-wide rules and quite a few of the most basic among the groups I had, which was a result in my hasty assembly I had of the letter to each sight.
Today, I woke up to this following warning via a Private message:
Encouraging users to follow one another for the sake of following only, not for any valid reason such as story/blog merit, is not permitted. "Follow-for-follow" is treated as spam and not tolerated.
Further advertisements as such, especially spamming out numerous threads simultaneously with copy-pasting the exact same response in a different comment for those threads, will earn an immediate ban.
As I explained in the same words to the admin who sent me the warning, My reasoning for being so hasty in this spammed message across these groups was simultaneously because I felt I was running out of time, and because my project has been a labor of love dear to me now for over roughly four years. (I believe I said five years in the original post, but to be 100% honest I'm not sure one way or the other as I can no longer tell how long it has been since I started working on the piece). I don’t want to tell you guys some sob story about this to excuse my actions, but needful to say is that it had been a full year since I had last read FiMFanfiction’s rules (or any of the groups’ rules where I was posting), but I will brush up on them right away.
The reason I felt I was running out of time is because it was only just yesterday that I was able to have gotten back to any type of writing/editing/promoting whatsoever. In my real, regular life I am a soon to be graduating High School Senior, and my time is consumed between working each Wednesday-Sunday while taking A.P. classes at school. I am aware that other people have even busier workloads than this, and still manage to make time to write and show civility when promoting. Regardless, I had hoped I had come off a credible-sounding tone when I first made the threads.
Once again, I duly apologize, however in order to be an honorable person, I will follow through in reading the stories that those of you gave to me in order to make this deal, but of course, I won't be making any other deals similar to this in the future, and promise to never spam again.
I do hope to at least re-create threads on the appropriate groups where I can discuss the original idea I posted, as it sounds like that's the best way to get this story into the spotlight of other bronies' attention.
Regretful but hoping to amend & move forward,
—Joshua Aaron Skousen
in my case I don't mind, your story is good, so I found myself pleased by your, I'll admit, weird way to promote it...
that and I'd like to get comments on my stories too instead of auto dislikes
