Little Check-In · 3:43am Oct 3rd, 2012
Hey everypony! Just wanted to drop a note on my blog. Sorry for the recent silence, but I just got through some ponyal(read: personal) things lately and they have finally started to settle down. With that and school I've had hardly any time to write, but I'm slowly working back into the flow of things.
So yes, I am working on the next little chapter for Moonfall! It will be shorter, because the next Element's isn't featured as much as AJ, but I'll do my best to deliver something interesting and entertaining as always. I've began drafting, but I won't say how far off it is given how inconsistent my free time is. Just know that it is coming.
I also wanted to get an opinion from anypony who happens to actually read this. If there is enough content to warrant a one-shot of a side story, would it be better off as a one-shot or have it just be a dedicated chapter? I had considered using it as a one-shot side story not only due to size, but also as a means of generating more interest in Moonfall. What do you ponies think?
Thanks everypony for the support and patience!
Side stories are fine with me. I do, however, detest "intermissions" (even if they're good) because it just breaks the flow of the story for me.
I had forgotten about your stories. Reading Moonfall now.
I think you should submit any side stories as a new story, if its word count warrants it.
one shot for the side story sounds good to me.
Well side story looks perfect! If you will have the time for that ofcourse :D

Oh! I'm just glad you're still willing to pickup my story after such a long delay! /)!

Thanks for the input everypony. When It rolls around I'll definitely be considering it as a one-shot story if I can get the numbers high enough.

Sorry it took me a while to respond. Background Pony updated, so yeah...
I wasn't talking about flashbacks. Flashbacks are fine. But what I was getting at, is that intermissions (or interludes) break the flow of the story for me, and here's why:
>Author writes story
>Author publishes story
>Author posts more chapters to story, usually around 8,000 words (example)
>Story proceeds at a consistent pace and word count
>Reader's email: "Story has updated!"
>Reader: Yes!
>Opens newest chapter only to find that its only 1,784 words
>WTF
>Reads it anyway
>Finishes reading the 'chapter' in five minutes
>"Hmm. That was strangely disappointing."
>"It didn't help that the chapter had nothing to do with the main plot."
>"Sure, there was character development, but it could have easily been integrated into the actual story."
>>>>Every intermission/interlude I have ever read.
>>>>>Ever.
I get why it happens: author has having trouble making a new chapter for his/her story. So they publish a little bite-sized chapter to satisfy the readers so that they can stall for time. It's just like anime filler and that annoys the hell out of me to no end. It's irrational, I know, but that's how it is to me.
Some clarification.

Sorry for my slow reply as well. That is very helpful to know. I've seen that a few times and dislike it too. Better to have a full chapter and everypony waits than force updates that are too small. Thanks for the input /)!

Also, status on newest chapter?

Bit of writers block, but coming along fairly. Not much to say in terms of eta tbh. Schedule too sporadic!
