A Review of the Season Seven Premiere Episodes (Kind Of)

Somewhere in a dark forest where a large strangely purple and jeweled castle sits some murmuring can be heard from inside the castle walls. The castle is home to Hasbro studios and another meeting with the company executives is taking place.

Hasbro Executive One: So we are going to troll the fandom. They will think Starlight Glimmer is going to leave. But then we are going to have her stay! Bwahahaha! That's right. Taste the Glim Glam mother fudgers!

Hasbro Executive Two: Uh...are you sure that's a good idea? I mean a good majority of the fandom already hates her and-

Hasbro Executive One: Oh don't be such a stick in the mud. We ALWAYS troll the fandom here at Hasbro. Just look at when we gave Twilight wings. The Bronies were bitting their nails, hoping against it. And then BAM! We put wings on the purple duckie!

Hasbro Executive Three: I think you mean Alicorn.

Hasbro Executive One: Silence underling! Everyone knows that they all look like rubber duckies. Especially the Alicorn and Pegasai. We made them that way so we could make a rubber duck toy line after season eight. Anyway, we haven't just trolled the fans with Twilight. We also trolled them with Discord!

Hasbro Executive Two: *Slaps head on forehead.* Oh no. Not THIS story again.

Hasbro Executive One: Yess. Many years ago the fans didn't want Discord to be reformed. They begged us not to do it. But in season three we did! And we got away with it too. Why? Because we still gave him his trolling and obnoxious personality. So the fans were forced to accept it in time.

Hasbro Executive Three: Well I guess I can kind of see your point but-

Hasbro Executive One And let's not forget Trixie! They begged us not to reform her. They pleaded! But in the end we had the last laugh! Bwahahaha! And we made them like reformed Trixie because she still retained her obnoxious and self-centered personality. It was all part of our evil plannn.

Hasbro Executive Two: But Trixie was only supposed to be in one episode originally. We only added her to the seasons later. We did really have a plan or any-

Hasbro Executive One: That's just what we told the Bronies to throw them off and troll them more. ANYWAY, now we reformed Starlight Glimmer. And we are going to shove her in those Bronies' faces until they accept her and buy all of the toys we have made of her! Muhahahaha!

Hasbro Executives One and Two: *Groan and roll their eyes.*

Hasbro Executive One: Now get to work making Starlight Glimmer episodes. And add Trixie and Discord to troll the fans even more! Muhaha! Oh, and also add some Celestia trolling moments too. We need those to balance the order of trolling or it will be too great for even US to handle.

Hasbro Executives One and Two: *Sigh deeply and head off to make episodes trolling the fandom...yet again.*

So that was more or less how season seven episodes one and two came to be made.

I thought they were pretty good. But I saw what Hasbro was doing there.

They can't fool me.

*Narrows eyes suspiciously.*

I loved this premiere so much! The interaction between characters, the comedy gold, not to mention Celestia's wonderful screentime! Oh, and the logo changed. I like the new logo

And like you said, the first episode was probably the biggest middle finger troll to all the people who wanted Starlight gone :rainbowlaugh:

4498544 I know right? They were both great. I enjoyed them quite a lot. :raritystarry:

4498557 If the rest of the season is like this, then it will be one heck of a season! You can find my full review (kinda) in my latest blog post :scootangel:

I still need to see them.

4498555 Yesss. The fun MUST be doubled! :pinkiecrazy:

What is wrong with starlight I like her better than purple smartass nerd

4498564 Don't ask that question, you're gonna start a flamewar :twilightoops:

4498560 Yay! I will give your review a read. :)

4498566 I dont care I'm tired of these low lifes no offence talking shit about starlight hell just because she can challenge twi to a stand still and because her back story is shit hell if I was a unicorn colt I could spend my life studying magic alot more than twilight and I'll probably be able to beat twilight

4498561 I personally thought they were great! Princess Celestia, Trixie, and Starlight Glimmer all got some great character development. Rarity Dash has just put his reactions to the episodes up on YouTube if you want to watch them.

4498569 No I just feel she gets a lot of unfair and unnecessary hate. Most of the things people criticize about her exist in many fan-favorites yet no one mentions them.

4498571 plus the successor always surpass the predecessor

4498571

I personally like Starlight Glimmer a lot. I don't really understand the hate for her. I think it is mostly because some fans are afraid that Trixie, Starlight Glimmer, Discord, Spike, and other characters are going to become more important than the mane six in future seasons. But honestly I can't really see that happening. They are the only ones connected to the Elements if Harmony. So they will always have an important place in the show.

4498576 I know right sunburst has the same back story and their not hating on him

4498570
I'd have already watched them, but I was sick yesterday and couldn't stand looking at a screen for very long.

4498578 I like Sunburst quite a lot. He is one of the characters that I can relate the most too.

4498579 Awww I am sorry to hear that. I hope that you feel better soon.

4498583 You are very welcome, my friend. :)

Trixie wasn't even a bad girl to begin with. She really didn't even need to be reformed, and Gilda's upbringing in her home town more than justifies her attitude.

Starlight though felt to me like she REALLY NEEDED MORE than being kept under watch by the Mane-Six, her psychological profile may have been all over the place, but all of it pointed to something or several somethings that where quite serious. Some spiritual training, and proper psychiatric treatment was in order there.

Not necessarily an asylum, but definitely A LOT of therapy.

I like her too :raritystarry: and i Always laugh at the People who dont watch a Ep becuse starlight is in it. :facehoof:

4498665 I think Starlight has had a good amount of time to be reformed. She was reformed for an unknown amount of time during and after the season five finale episodes. Then she continued to be reformed all throughout season six (which is longer than any other reformed villain in the show). And she is even still learning friendship lessons in season seven. So I would say that she has been given a good amount of time to rework issues with her personality and attempt to adjust to normal society.

4498666 Yay! I am happy that you like her too. :rainbowkiss:

4498576 There are many other stupid reasons why people hate her, but I'm tired of those arguments so I'll stop at that.
4498580 I love Sunburst, too! I think he's the cutest stallion in the show, which is why I ship him with Starlight :rainbowkiss:

4498742

All right, you have us there, if you consider Mane-Six qualified to help her re-integrate into society. But she did manage to cause more damage, and be more successful than previous villains. And her Equality phase was too close for comfort on the realistic spectrum, we have seen news reports and documentaries on all the ways that cults grow and become sour.

And while the infinite vast nature of the multiverse makes Starlight's actions redundant, considering that the Mane-Six really only managed to best all of those villains by sheer luck and Magical Cleansing Weapons, similar alternate universes would have already existed in one form or another with similar or more severe results.

And last I checked, Chrysalis was defeated by Cadance and Shinning Armor, and Sombra was killed (mostly, maybe) by a last second Magical Grenade thrown into the mouth of Sombra's mentally damaged shadow form.

The only reason most people feel that she doesn't deserved to be reformed, is because of how successful, and close she was to winning.

Other than that, she is a Pony. Of course mercy was always on the table for her.

4498753 I love the adult character of Sunburst too. He is one of the most relatable characters in the show.

4498763 I think that the Mane Six is more than qualified to reform Starlight seeing as they have reformed more powerful villains such as Discord.

4498875 Yeah....

Discord is a part of the world though, he cannot be destroyed. At least that is the only reason that I could come to as to why Celestia decided to eventually let him go.

4498895 I never really saw Discord as being evil. He was more or less just a very chaotic force who didn't consider the feelings of other creatures around him when he went on his streaks of causing chaos. Celestia figured that an Element of harmony could help to reform him and Fluttershy was the perfect choice on account of her kindness.

4498904 No but it makes him selfish, that is enough for me to punch someone in the mouth and knockout a couple of teeth.

Not that I don't like him. He is a riot, but his lack of consideration would be annoying if I knew him personally.

4498919 I kind of like that about Discord's personality. It fits in with the whole 'chaos' thing.
