Effectuate the Competition · 11:17pm Mar 30th, 2017

If you're the sort of person who likes to wait until stories are finished before reading them, you may be pleased to know that Unfriendly Competition is now complete. You can see what happens at the Friendship Games when magic comes pre-unleashed from start to finish without any of those pesky interruptions that come from me fleshing out the next part of the outline.

(And yes, Masterweaver, you're free to do the thing. Sorry again for taking so long.)

Next up... I'm not entirely sure. There is this one idea I want to explore, set in early Season 4...

"So," said Dash, "is anypony else weirded out by how hot Twilight is now that she has wings?

You're gonna let me help edit this one right?

This idea of yours has me grinning with anticipation :pinkiehappy:

"So," said Dash, "is anypony else weirded out by how hot Twilight is now that she has wings?"

Interesting. I've never yet come across a story about thermoregulatory body parts, especially one about when they fail on an inexperienced body. And yet it seems to be such an obvious idea to develop, in hindsight. Lots of real animals use large, flat structures to capture extra heat from the sun, for instance, as well as to cool themselves in a breeze. Why not pegasi too, when they're the species with the most weather-based experience?

It'll be fascinating to see your take on it, especially your take on how it impacts Twilight and Rainbow psychologically. Fascinating as the physiological angle is, that's the heart and soul of a story, after all.

That idea sounds hilarious and amazing.

Though wasn't it you who explored the idea that Twi already had an unfairly attractive build as a unicorn due to her huge internal mana pool? Or did I mix up your work with somebody else's... :rainbowhuh:

Alternatively, for another take on the idea, you can see Twilight's unexpected beauty competition win (among many other things) in my own Overshadowing the Rainbow...

Certainly. Especially given the reaction to the last chapter of UC. :fluttershyouch:

No, that was me. I'll be touching on that as well.

"My barn door don't swing that way," said Applejack, "but I will say that Twi's turnin' into a fine figure of a mare now that she's gettin' some meat on them bones."

Rarity gave a well-practiced scoff. "Applejack, really! Unicorns are naturally slender. It's very becoming."

"Rares, yer slender. First time I saw Twilight, I thought she was gonna keel over from starvation if I didn't get somethin' down 'er throat."

Ah yes. Different standards of beauty between tribes due to the differing physiological effects of their magics.

And since her physical build is altered, would this make her less attractive to fellow unicorns?

Definitely looking forward to this fic eagerly. :pinkiehappy:
