Twinken (and Potential Spoilers)

Hello, my readers!

For those of you who don't know, Twinken is the name of one of my OCs; specifically, he's the younger brother of my OC Midnight Blaze

Twinken got his name from the word Twinkle; it didn't sound coltish when I originally thought of it but I liked the word so much that I tweaked it to sound like a young boy's name.

Twinken was born the younger brother of (reincarnated) Midnight Blaze, to their parents Ignitus Enflame and Faerie Tail; Midnight was about 13 when Twinken was born. But due to a lot of bad that happened to their family, a two year-old Twinken was entrusted to the care of the Ponyville Orphanage by a heartbroken Midnight.

This set things up for the original timeline where the original Midnight Blaze who came from another world would be in the right place and the right time to become Twinken's volunteer-big brother and eventually his legal guardian (all the while the reincarnated Midnight Blaze watched over his brother from afar).

Twinken is a nice and sensible young unicorn colt who's always wanted his own family, and got that once the first Midnight became his legal guardian and he got not just one big brother, but two big brothers, a big sister, and another sister around his age, as well as a grandmother (because the first Midnight had become an unofficially adopted member of the Apple Family)

Twinken got to know Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, Rumble, and Button Mash once they formed the Cutie-Mark Crusaders, and while he does want his own cutie-mark he's not driven towards gaining it because when he gets his cutie-mark he knows that he wants it to be for something he truly enjoys doing, is why he's so much more patient in getting it

Currently, Twinken is still unaware of the true biological connection he has to (reincarnated) Midnight (he fell asleep during Midnight's story of his time-traveling journey and thus didn't hear the ending) and Midnight still hasn't taken the time to tell Twinken the whole story, partly because of how he's lived with all these secrets for so many years and because he doesn't know to tell his little brother that their mother is alive but cursed into a magically-induced coma

With my next arc, that secret is finally gonna bite Midnight in the butt as many things he's kept secret are finally revealed; these secrets are gonna damage the bonds he has with all his friends and family, especially with Twinken, Twilight, and Celestia

I have big plans for Twinken, to make him something more than just my Mane Character's colt brother; unless you're interested in spoilers I recommend you stop reading now: The events of "Crusaders of the Lost Mark" will play out differently, particularly the fact that the Crusaders will not get their cutie-marks at the same time, only Twinken will get his mark.

This has nothing to do with favoritism, but that the events surrounding that episode work perfectly for what I have in mind for Twinken, his cutie-mark, and his special talent. Like the Mane Six re-learning the meanings of their elements one by one, I intend for the Crusaders to earn their cutie-marks one by one as well, for them to be defined as individuals rather than as a group, which is what a cutie-mark is partly supposed to be about; I thought the CMCs' marks in the show were nice but to me it ties them too closely together and not enough as individuals

So I'll just say it: Twinken's cutie-mark has to do with stars but his talent has something to do with inspiring others to bring out the best in them, to be themselves in the best and most meaningful ways; he has a way of reaching others and helping them bring out the best in themselves
